When dealing with a 2-stroke motor there are a few things to check first:

1.spark
2. fuel
3. compression

You have spark.

It doesn't sound like compression is an issue, and i don't think you had a soft seize.   You can get a cheap compression tester at harbor freight.

Fuel:  you've got to clean the carb.  I suggest spending the $25 to get a can of carb dip.  You can use it over and over again and if you continue to spend time with a two stroke - you will need it.   Guitar strings are a good tool to help clean out all the little holes and some spray carb cleaner can help get rid of specks of crud that are sticking to the carb.

here is a good guide to cleaning the carb: http://hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5389

Often times the simplest explanation is the right one. I've never had a CDI go out on me, but i'm not sure that is the issue.

Good luck.

hmm, i didnt see those at vt.....

If you are considering purchasing from VTcycles, and I suggest you do, call them up.  They don't list a lot of their inventory on the website, and they are nice guys who can help you out with anything.

Yeah, i'm still floating around.   Tuning is going well - the plug looks good around 92.   I got a CHT to help verify, but haven't had much luck with the sensor.

As far as jets go, they, in addition to the entire carb, are interchangable with honda elite/dio jets.
I have tuning kit from VTcycles that i am working with.   Daywot on ebay sells some as well.

The other way to do it is get some indexing drill bits.  The number, to the best of my recolection, of the jet coresponds directly to the width.  Therefore, a 92 jet is .92mm, etc.

Because the engine is a clone of the elite AF16, and i started with an elite engine, i spend a lot of time over at hondaspree.net . Good forum.

Hope this helps.

Howdy

I'm looking for the stock jet size and have found some differing stories.

Some folks say 82-85 on the forum.
The parts fische says 90.
Mine came with a 90 and a ton of carbon buildup.
The manual say 80.

I just took of the air box in favor of a pod filter, and have run both a 95 and 92 jet.   the 95 gave me a little more topend, but bogged a little.   The 92 seems peppy, but gives a little less on top power.

Thanks for reading
