The nut and washers and ramp plate finally came in. I ordered from 3 different places and I got all 3, just a long lead time. :-)

Well with a little hesitation and some common sense and some nail biting and a tense behind when I first started it up, I got it back together correct. The Kymco diagram helped out too, but it is kind of difficult to sort out. She runs and runs really smooth now. I am replacing the rear clutch next week. My Xciting has 30k on it and I am pretty sure the spring is worn out.

I ordered the Dr. Pulley Variator and the 30g Slides and have had them installed for 500 miles now. Will open it up this weekend and see what it looks like. I have just over 30k on my 500 Xciting and the previous shop put in new rollers and a belt and did not put the washer between the two variator halves. When they torqued the nut down it was bottoming out on the end of the threads and the beginning of the splines. Needless to say the variator was destroyed.

I think I need a new clutch spring as well. 30k miles on that spring I think has worn it out a bit. So I ordered the complete clutch assembly and a new bell too. I am wondering about the 30g sliders though. Should I go with 31g or 29g?? I ride mostly in San Francisco and have some steep hills to navigate most of the time. A stiffer spring in the clutch will help I am sure.

Any feedback is appreciated!!!

Xciting 500 / 2009 Variator Assembly Instructions

So I bought the Dr. Pulley variator and sliders. Anyone have in depth assembly instructions? I bought a new ramp stopper and washers and a nut too. One side of the ramp stopper is beveled and I don't know which way it goes back on the shaft.

Hey All. Brand new to the forum and brand new to owning a 2009 Xciting 500 with 30k miles. I picked it up from a guy here in Cali and drove it for about 25 miles. The variator started making some noise and I was loosing power so I shut it down and tore it apart. A sickening sight... I found the top half of the variato was rounded out where the splines of the crank engage the variator face and the nut and washer on the end were badly warped. The washer is fused to the nut. Everything was tight when I took it apart, but something went very wrong. There is paperwork of a shop replacing the belt and the rollers in the variator about 4 months prior, thinking they royally screwed up the reassembly.

So I ordered a Dr. Puller variator assembly and sliders. I had to dig deep to find the washers and the nut, end up having to wait 3 weeks to get just the nut and washers.

Anyone have any advice for assemply of the Dr. Pulley, washers, nut, etc? I really don't want a repeat of what the last shop did.

Thanks in advance!!

Ryan
