On my 2002 cobra racer in the carb throat there are three holes in the bottom one at  4oclock one at 6oclock and one at  8oclock. When I shut the engine off gas starts running out the 6oclock hole ( the bottom one ). Do I have a bad float inlet needle?????

General Discussion / top speed question
« on: May 20, 2017, 04:05:30 PM »
i have a 2002 cobra racer it has a 70cc big bore kit, 94 main jet, tecnigas pipe derestricted cdi and variator , it has the stock air box with restrictor removed, the spark plug is a greyish all most tanish color at full throttle the engine buries the tac needle it pulls me uphill no problem at all ( i weigh 237lbs )   but my top speed gps is only 45mph   my question is with this set up shouldnt i be hitting at least 50mph??  im not sure if my rollers are stock or not, i tried the dr pulley flat rollers 6.5 gram and then the 9.5 gram either did any good so i put the stock ones back in

I have never 'cut' a cdi, so can't help with that.  It's seems a popular mod.

Sounds like your engine is 'four-stroking' at wot.
Main jet is too rich, causing it to overload with fuel and only fire every other stroke.

You will need to replace the main jet with a larger number, (probably +3 or +4 from what you presently have), which will be a smaller hole in the jet.

Of course, timing and condition of the air filter should be checked, first.
redk
no     my cdi was restricted i unpluged the green wire loopimg in and out of it and its running 100% better at WOT
and i think you have it wrong the larger the number on the jet the bigger the main jet,   now if your drilling them with a numbered drill bit set then the smaller the number the larger the hole

General Discussion / cdi restriction
« on: May 17, 2017, 01:57:18 PM »
on my 2002 cobra racer that i picked up not too long ago when i hit full throttle at top speed no load it will start spudering  like its running rich and loose rpms if i back off the throttle just a little bit the spudering goes away and the rpms come back up a little
if im going up hill with the engine under load it doesnt spuder is this my cdi being restricted??
the color of the spark plug is a greyish it looks like its not running rich
HOW DO I DE RESTRICT MY CDI    CUT IT???????

General Discussion / 70cc jetting question
« on: May 14, 2017, 02:23:51 AM »
I have a 2002 kymco cobra racer that I just installed a 70 cc big bore kit. It has a tecnigas pipe and the stock air box with a 85 main jet. What size main jet would be a good starting point??  I was thinking with going with a 92 main jet. Any suggestions
