Xciting 500 / Potentially updating Variator to racing Variator.
« on: March 28, 2021, 05:52:11 AM »
I am eyeballing a Mollasi variator kit for about 300 bucks which is designed to be an upgrade to the stock variator. Alongside the kit will also be installed new rollers to accommodate so I do not lose acceleration.

Does anybody have experience with upgrading to a higher end, or even racing variator? I mean the kit is designed for this bike so.

Would like to know what to look out for.

Thanks

By the way MJR,

Next time could we please try my bike on the freeway to explore the other symptom I mentioned and perhaps get your opinion on that?

Thanks.

3
Thanks again MJR!

It was great to visit you.

4
That would be fine.

Okay I will message you.

I don't get home till around 5pm.

Would it be inconvenient to you if I got there around 5:30 or 6:00?

If so just let me know, don't want t bug you. I also wanted to see if you felt anything wrong with my bikes performance.

Assuming thats it, http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=26145.0

Thanks MJR.

Would you be willing to help me determine if this is the case?

I could drive out there next Friday if you're cool with it.

I just don't know how to take stuff apart and all that.

Mine was pretty bad, possible.

Well, would you care to share the solution you came to?

My thinking....
Big-time clutch chatter?.....after 15mph clutch locked up and chatter gone?
Front end vibration - and you say it is caused by something in the rear, "the transmission"?  Clutch pads glazed might be the easiest and least expensive  to fix....unless belt is failing.

The drive Belt was prematurely replaced at 10,000 miles, and there was only minor glazing on the original belt. That was about 1500 miles ago. I highly doubt it's the belt.

Straighter valve or Schrader valve? You mean the little spring valve thingy that screws into the tire valve stem?

Yes, the valve inside the air valve stem where you pump air into the tire.

But that was just a side detail, the main inquiry is regarding transmission. I have an appointment for a diagnostic next weekend but want to go in there armed with knowledge.

Any idea what are some common causes of low end throttle vibration?

Xciting 500 / Possible transmission problem? Take off Symptoms.
« on: June 22, 2018, 09:02:52 PM »
Hi guys,

Strange symptom.

Upon take off at between 0-15 mph I get a lot of vibration on the front end.

So much that it caused the straighter valve in the air valve stem to become lose and leak air.

Potential causes? What part of the transmission might be affected if it is in fact a transmission issue?

Thanks.

Xciting 500 / Re: How long are tire RIMS "Suppose to" last?

That's kind of sad.  If you hadn't been on the brakes when you hit the pothole, you might have just kept on driving.

Of course, I hit a similar pothole @ 70mph, and it broke the muffler pipe, the muffler, and damaged the steering column bearings/races.

For the OP, rims "should" outlast the bike.  Only an accident, collision with road debris, a pothole, driving on flat tires, pretending its a trials bike, or the like should cause a rim replacement.  They simply don't wear, at all, in normal operation.

What do you mean by "Pretending it's a trials bike"?

Yah they only sold the MyRoad for the last two years here (2014-15). They started making the bike for sale overseas in 2008. Horsepower is 59 on it vs something like 55 on my B650s.

Still 20 HP greater than the xciting and 200cc higher displacement. I understand the top speed is 110 mph?

In California it was until recently as you found out above neither legal nor illegal. Lane splitting was just this year legalized and it was kicked over to the CHP I believe to set a list of recommendations for implementation.

Did you buy one? Bert's had two used ones and one was a buy back from a guy in Escondido. It have a CBailey tinted larger windscreen and custom modified seat for better rider placement.

I almost bought a used 700 myroad at Berts a couple months ago but when I called in to place a down payment on it they sold it already. The Myroad has been discontinued and no longer in production. I may still buy a new old stock in the next couple months sometime. The Xciting was Exciting for a little while but I want more power. 65 HP vs 39? I will take that 65 any day. Along with the larger engine displacement.

I once hit a hub cap at 60 mph that bent both front and rear rims such that I had to replace them. Aluminum wheels are easily cracked or bent. If it's bent your tire won't rotate perfectly even though it holds air. Replace it!

Don't take chances on dodgy tires, wheels or brakes is my motto. A broken clavicle taught me that lesson.

How much for a new front RIM?

Photo?

Where is the photo upload option? Is the only way to first upload it to an external site and use image embed codes?

If so, how 2006.....
