Technical | How To / Re: HOW LONG TO FULLY CHARGE BATTERY
« on: February 05, 2012, 08:15:54 PM »
Thank you very much for you complete and easily understood answer. I do have a charger but in the cold it sometimes takes alot to get the scooter started. I am always somewhat then reluctant to take short trips. So I ususally wait after charging for a nice day incase it hard to start I can go for a longer ride. Again thank you

Technical | How To / HOW LONG TO FULLY CHARGE BATTERY
« on: February 05, 2012, 04:21:14 PM »
I know someone out here has this answer. If I almost totaly discharge my battery getting my 2009 500 started how long would I have to run the bike to fully charge the battery back up to full? And would it make a difference in time if I was riding the scooter say at 45 mph? In other words would it charge faster? Thanks in advance

Technical | How To / GAS GAGE WENT NUTS
« on: September 05, 2011, 06:59:07 PM »
I stopped and filled my tank however when I started up the gas gauge went to empty and the gas light came on. I reopened and closed gas cap but that did no good. Gas is not leaking an tank is still full. When I rode it I hit abump and the gas light went out and the gas needle jumped to 1/2 full and then went back to empty. Does anyone know what happened or how to fix? I am driving a 2009 500CC bike.

« on: June 15, 2011, 12:52:42 PM »
HELP! I recently moved and I am now 250 miles away from the nearest Kymco dealer. I have to change my oil and air filter and do not want to start the work until I have replacement parts on hand to do the complete job. Can anyone tell me the brand name and or part numer of an acceptable oil and air filter to fit my scooter. Thanks in advance

Welcome back to riding. @3 years that's noting I came back after 50 years. I when I was 16 and that not again untilo I was 66 or actually 65. I love it but do take you time to get re adjusted to riding. Its not like riding a bicycle all the skills you had need to be resharpened and in some cases relearned. good luck and good riding

General Discussion / Re: Side stand or center
« on: February 21, 2011, 07:06:20 PM »
I use the center stand always. I learned the hard way. The first daqy I picked up my 500 the dealer had the side stnd too tight. I thought I put the side stand down and dropped the scooter right on my ankle. I do not dtruct side stands.

Wlcome to the Forum old lurker from the old rider. This is the best web site for all Kymco. I have learned a lot and read the posts daily.

I am firm believer in taking the scoter in for the first and possibly second recommeded service. The dealer has the specs and should give the scooter a 100% look over and besure everything it tight and functioning properly. I had my 500 in in for the first check and they found the side stand was beginig to loosen...somethin I never een noticed and corrected the situation.

General Discussion / Re: Scooter vandals!
« on: August 22, 2010, 03:57:25 PM »
I agree it sounds like the weights were on there to balance to wheel/tire. Have you noticed any wobble when driving your scooter? The weights may not come into play until you are going at a higher speed like on the highway. That is when wheels/tires start to have and effect on your bikes stability.

I love the scooter and have had no problems. IF I bought another scooter it would be a Kimco. BUT after riding the 500 for awhile you might find yourself looking for something a little bigger and want a full size motor cycle. I debate internally all the time about trading in the scooter for a big bike and then thinkinh why. I love the scooter and it get me wherever I want and it cost less to operate. I would think long and hard about wether I wanted a scooter or bike,

I am firm believer in following the manufactures instructions for the first two oil changes and services. And then depending  on where and how you ride you might want to do more frequesnt oil changes or other services.
