People 50 / Re: how do i derestrict a people 50 2 stroke??

Take some time and search through the forum.
Is that 35 on the speedo or GPS? The speedo lies.
Check the variator boss, if it looks like a top hat you need one that just looks like a tube. If you want to spend money, buy a polini or malossi variator, it's worth it.
First place I would spend money is exhaust, 100-150 should get you decent expansion chamber that will wake the stock cylinder up, and still be good if you move to a BBK in the future. Technigas Next R is nice.
If you get a new pipe you need to upjet your carb. Or better yet spend 60-100 bucks and buy a 17.5mm carb. Or search ebay for the stock carb off a 2002, they were 17.5. Also get a few jets for running.
Don't skimp and buy cheap Chinese crap.
Check out these sites for parts.

I dont know about the 2016, on the older models It wasn't a wire that you cut it was just a green wire that you unplugged.

People 50 / Back firing? Timing?
« on: May 30, 2019, 08:48:56 PM »
I've got a 2002, with a 2008 engine, Airsal BBK, malossi head, tecnigas next R, 19mm delorto, stock airbox with a couple extra holes, oil pump removed, running 3%.
Put about 300 miles on this top end taking it easy, not letting it really rev up that high, to break it in. After that I found when I open it up, it revs really high, starts feeling like it's running lean, and then starts backfiring and just running like crap. I've checked for leaks. Described it to a couple people and they say it's probably a timing issue.
I bought a timing light from harbor freight. But haven't had the time and energy to get into yet. So, if anyone has any tips or advice, I will be very grateful.

People 50 / Re: Taillight cover tabs?
« on: December 25, 2018, 09:20:41 PM »
If anyone else runs into this problem. There are no tabs just the rubber gasket is stuck. I used a little bitty screwdriver in one of the screw holes to get it free.

People 50 / Taillight cover tabs?
« on: December 16, 2018, 02:39:46 AM »
So I have a blown taillight, I pull the two screws and try to pry the red cover off, and it looks like the sliver plastic of the casing is going to give before the cover comes loose. Like every other piece of plastic on the bike I'm sure there are tabs the service manual isn't bothering to tell me about. I just don't want to f*** up the casing finding, aka breaking, those tabs. So if anyone could direct me I would be most appreciative.

People 50 / Re: Stock Carb and Auto Choke is a POS.

I'm not that knowledgeable. I've heard good things about all these companies. I know I love polini variators. And for my second People that I just picked up over the weekend, I'm planning to try one of these naraku carbs. Another thing if it's a clamp on carb, you'll need an adapter, bolt on should well bolt on.

if it's a 2 stoke this page, some of these are gonna be straight plug and play, some are going to need a manual choke, if everything else is still stock no need to go for a bigger carb so you can just grab one that will work with the electric choke. This site also has parts for a four stoke if you look around.
