Thanks OldScoot, I do have the hood but felt I didn't need it. I'll know better next time but taking it a bit further, I feel that breathing the air without realizing what it may be doing could be a problem. An age factor could be a hinderence also! Been taking Muscinex DM every 12 hrs. seemingly helping. I bet the weather in the summer can be brutal, I guess that's the other end of the thermometer problems. I often wonder about insurance policies has to whether summer/winter factors have anything to do storing in the winter for months and still paying the same premium? There are some rides around the Pittsburgh Area but the one I attend is the "Ride For The Homeless Vets". It turned out around 400 riders this past summer into a 120 mile trip. VFW's and Legion's opened their doors to us..... food, drinks, rest stop etc. on the way to and from.

5 days ago the sun was out bright but only 42 degrees and I wanted to ride...which I did. I was warm all over being dressed well and the only area I felt the cold was in the neck and jaw. I felt it to be not a problem therefore riding about for about 2 hours. Adding here that prior the ride, I had a bit of a sniffle but not being  bothering as a cold. Anyway, the next day I was really sick, congestion, coughing sneezing and all the aches and all that goes with it. Well, even now I am weak, tired and sort of dopy !! My conclusion, maybe at my age, I better wait for the much warmer days to ride. Some say one doesn't get a cold or flu from being out in the cold as I was but I no longer believe that. I put the bike in the garage, trickle charge on and it will stay there until well....warm weather in the spring.

READING ALL THE POSTS ABOUT ORDERING AND HOW LONG PEOPLE ARE WAITING IS DISGUSTING ME BOUT THAT EVEN THOUGH i HAVEN'T HAD THE NEED FOR ORDRING ANYTHING. NEVERTHELESS, I FEEL kYMCO IS STRETCHING THEIR LUCK OVER THIS BY NOT HAVING ONE OR TWO CENTRAL WAREHOUSES HERE IN THE STATES THAT COULD STOCK AND SHIP IN ABOUT NEXT DAY OR SO. I LIKE MY SCOOTER BUT IF THE TIME COMES ND I HAVE TO DEAL WITH SOME OF YOU ARE DEALING WITH....I WILL SAY GOOD-BYE TO MY KYMCO. I FEEL THIS IS TOTALLY REDICULOUS YOU GUYS HAVE TO SUFFER OVER THESE DELAYS. AT THIS POINT FOR ME, I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY SCOOTER AND WILL BE AS LONG AS THIS EVENT DOESN'T COME MY WAY. MAYBE WE SHOULD SEND ALL THESE LETTERS DIRECTLY TO KYMCO AND IF THINGS DON'T CHANGE, WE SHOULD SHOULD LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT FORUM ABOUT A LOCAL OR JUST MUCH BETTER BACKUP UNIT FOR OUR MONEY. IF ANYONE HAS CONTACT WITH KYMCO DIRECT, YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION TO PASS THIS POST ON TO THEM. GOOD lUCK WITH YOUR ORDERING PROBLEMS.

sissy mary, thanks for the correction on the date. I don't know why I am hung up on the 19th. This I know is not just a prediction from what I understand..it is a known fact as to what is to occur with the alignment of the planets which happens every many thousands of years. Gonna be interesting.

Xciting 500 / All you Veterans bikers and all THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
« on: November 12, 2012, 11:28:27 PM »
Myself, a veteran and behalf of all veterans on this site that I like best, "THANK YOU" for your service to our country & of course to all American and friends of this great nation. I would like to take this opportunity to THANK the places that served free meals to us veterans. For those that gave there best including lives, I we salute you. Being I went to a Ponderosa Invitation, I am attaching the card I made to present to them. It is showing only the front. I reduced the card file much and It won't accept the post.

Several days ago I went out in 46 to 50 degrees with my leather coat on and mask down and I was very comfortable. Today the temperature went from 68 to 71 and I wore a sweat shirt with a High Viz vest on and I was feeling a bit cool and uncomfortable. The obvious reason was the very high gusty wind which was going right through the sweat shirt and even felt it coming through my levi's. The gusts were so bad that I had to be extremely careful not to get blown off the road or into oncoming traffic. It wasn't a day that I wanted to get on any major highway. Further, going out to the Ponderosa with my wife for a free Veteran Buffet today, I couldn't believe how many dead deer were on the side of the roads. I mean, I never had seen so many. We were in the car for this trip being this major highway would have blown us off the road it was so windy. Are we getting prepared for Dec. 19, 2012 with this nasty weather changes? Anyone Anyone familar with the soo called "dooms day" time prediction? Note, I said "prediction". Between the Inca's, Myans, Nosterdomus, Chinese and several other past day predictions of Dec. 19th makes for a touchy conversation. Get your rides in!!

Xciting 500 / Deer Me and all that goes with it!
« on: October 20, 2012, 08:17:32 PM »
With the fall coming in like a lion, moving deer, falling leaves, covered pot holes, and wind, I like riding but am trying to keep my sences alert for all the above. So many dead deer creeps me and have seen many live ones moving and even crossing the road in front of me. The leafs, well a mess of them can make a curve much more nerve racking for slippery conditions. I like my trips though with my scooter and camera gear...my last encounter and pictured is a Bald Eagle. My tele-photo reaches out to almost 1,000 mm and the Eagle was approx. 1/2 mile away so with that lens and 16.1 MP I got a half decent shot.

Just my two cents worth and my own opinion....I am glad I didn't go for a full shield.. MY reasons are: I like the isea of having the helmet with the two shields...One, the sun or coated partial and the full clear pull down. On hot days, its nice to have some of the air cooling me off, down, it keeps the bugs from smacking me in the face, when raining, with rain-X on the shield..the air blows the shield rain off nicely, my visibility is much beeter all around with the existing shield being if I don't take care of a full windshield from scratches etc..well. At night, I feel the full windshield would have much more glare and rellection to deal with. Finally, of course, I really like the appearance of the existing shield and so do many who see the bike.
I have many compliments on the looks of this 500 and added to it all if of course again, the shield. All MY views and I wouldn't argue anyone elses!

Mike Green, thank you...yes, it is a great peaceful ride going out not knowing exactly where to at times but in the end run, it turns out being at a place as we spoke of above. I hate to see the cold weather approaching now..this morning is 39 degrees and my going out limit is around 45-50. country roads get a great amount of leaves on the roads and the deer are moving more making it just a bit more concerning. Under those leaves than come some of the gravel areas so all together this stuff gets a bit concerning.

YagerMySter, Very Very nice....thanks for taking the time to go, shoot and edit into this video presentation. It takes some time and work to do so but at the same time I know you enjoyed it. I went on a ride for the homeless vets...400 some bikes and only shot stills.
Next time I will try using my GoPro. What size is your Yager? I was running my 500RI and had no problem with the 100 some mile trip. Thanks again for sharing.

Being all these shots were shot from and with my scooter, I want to finish out this subject and am sorry to possibly being too off beat of the correct subject. If it weren't for my Scooter, I wouldn't be driving to all these places being the ride is of great enjoyment being able to pull off the rode in places and not making a lot of noise at that. Further of course, it is a good place to sit while doing all this!

Pictures were taken at Crooked Creek State Park, Pennsylvania. The distance these two birdsw were from me almost made me feel they were in another place. The opsprey of course not shown, I shot pixs of their nest in Morraine State Park, Pennsylvania. This was another distant shot being it was on the other side of the lake. Their were young in it at the time. I also have pixs of Falcons shot along the Allegheny River, North East of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Gee Wiz!....Great, thank you. It has to be that I would have never looked it up hoping someone knew or gave a thought of what it is. I hate to finalize with such fuzzy photos  but these two birds fasinate me even though they were so far away. I had the stand down on the scooter, sat on it for and hour or more just waiting to see something. I did not know for sure that was an Eagle until I came home and blew the picture up. I shot some photos of the falcons & Ospreys (spelling) in different areas. No, am not a bird watcher but I look for anything interesting to shoot. Thanks for the comments.
