Super 8 150 / Re: Lights DIM I mean REALLY DIM like OFF!!!!

Crossbolt,  I did as you suggested and loaded the scooter up, drove 120 miles, had a nice lunch, unloaded the scooter at the dealer. The tech and I talked about the problem then I started the thing and VIOLA! Lights!!! We looked at each other for a bit, then he helped me loaded it back up. He did say that they have had issues with the light controller, and if I continue to have problems, call him and he will o :order a new one for me. My thinking is that if the first one is bad, the next one can't be much better unless they have made changes since 2013. Maybe i should by-pass the darn thing and be done with it. Any thoughts?

No I found this new bike at a Kawasaki dealer about 250 miles from me. He must have been a dealer at one time, this was a NOS one that he sold for $1300. Any way I will make the call you suggested. This seems to be a continuing problem? There seems to be lots of lighting complaints. Thank you.

Super 8 150 / Lights DIM I mean REALLY DIM like OFF!!!!

Previous post by me complained about lights Dim when at Idle. I didn't know this was a "feature" on my 2013 S8-150. Anyway I must have offended the photon gods and now I have NO lights. I have scanned this subject and found lots of stuff concerning the Light control module. I can't seem to see a consensus on a fix.
I see stuff about bypassing the module but then I see fuse issues, and something about diodes, etc.  I am very competent at doing electrical things, so bypassing/modifying is Ok if that is what this takes to fix. This scooter is very new , 170 miles on it, but the nearest dealer is over 100 mile away. I ain't riding this scooter 100 miles ( I would poop like a waffled potato chip ).  SO I would like to have someone tell me what the heck to do. Pretty please!!!!

Good info folks.... I also don't think AC is in the equation. I have dug around the forum and see the info on bypassing the control for this buggaboo. I will try that if I run into too many objects. Carrying a flashlight and bandages for the time being.
Thanks to all.

Super 8 150 / Lights DIM

New 2013 S8 150.... Head lights are dim. Sometimes they brighten to acceptable brightness then are dim on both Bright and Dim position. Haven't been able to see the tail light when the lights brighten because it is rare and brief, usually when first started. Battery is new as is the bike and fully charged.
P.S. Love this little scoot. Runs great and fun to run around town.
Thank for any assistance!!!!

WAIT WAIT... I may be an idiot..... A better search by me seems to show that at idle, the lights will DIM..... I have not taken the bike out at night and revved it up past idle. Only checked in the garage. DUH!

IT IS CONFIRMED....... I am an Idiot!!!! I don't understand their thinking on this as I drive at 20mph in town and they are Dim. I guess at that speed it won't hurt too bad if I run into something I can't see.

Super 8 150 / windscreen parts
« on: February 17, 2018, 07:03:56 PM »
I puchased a new '13 super 8 150. The small windscreen was broken by the dealer and they lost the mounting hardware. I purchased these parts with a screen. The illustrations I have seen are not real clear as to the way the parts go together....BUT the biggest problem I have is that no matter what sequence of assembly I use, the 6mm screws are not long enough or so it seems.... If some would be kind enough to measure the length of one of these screws for me I would be most grateful. I think I can figure out what part goes where I just need to know if I am wasting my time trying to use the screws I was sent.
Sorry, lots of words to ask a simple question.
