The capacity should be marked on the gear case.  At least it is on my scooter.

I actually overfilled mine when I did it that way.  The only way to fill it is to measure the amount before adding it.  If you put in too much (as I did) it ends up getting into the airbox.  I went to check my air filter and it was totally saturated with oil.

I will edit my original post

It has the GY6 engine.. Anything made for the GY6 should fit it perfectly.

Congrats on the S200 :)  I love mine

I have only just started looking into aftermarket parts but I can tell you that these are the Honda GY6 engines.  Anything designed to work with a GY6 should work with your scoot.  I've been considering changing the variator roller weights to increase top speed.  The take off is more than enough for me and I feel more top speed would be nice.  That kind of stuff can be bought from any scooter performance part dealers.  My dealer said that it wouldn't void the warranty unless the specific part caused some damage.

It is actually 163cc ... I'm not sure if they ship the same models to all countries.  I am glad that I bought mine when I did because the dealer that I got it from now cannot keep them in stock at all.  The truck comes in and they assemble the motorcycles and people are there to pick them up that very day :o

General Discussion / Re: Headlight modulators

BIG HUGE PRO'S ....

I have it on my People S200 and I love it.  I feel that I do get noticed MUCH more than I did and I don't think ANY motorcycle should be on the road without headlight modulation.  It very well could save your life and you will never know it because the person won't pull out directly in front of you.  I see peoples heads snap to look at me since I have the modulator and before they didn't..  There is a reason that motorcycles are the only vehicles on the road (except emergency vehicles) that are allowed to have a modulating/flashing headlight...  It saves lives.

Cons (if you can call them that)...  It costs money and can be difficult to install because the wiring/bulbs are not easy to get to.  For me the project took the better part of 6 hours due to the difficulty of disassembly/reassembly.  This could easily be avoided by simply paying your repair shop to do it.  *BUT* the question is how much is your life worth?

Thats my 2 cents

Edit:  Also I have a flashing brake light and LED bulbs all the way around (except headlights of course).  I also highly suggest replacing all bulbs with LED bulbs.  My brake light bulb was expensive but its about twice as bright (when braking) than the old bulb and will not burn out.  The turning indicators are cheaper LED bulbs.

Funny story.....

I went down to the Florida Keys and rented a scooter while I was there.  I didn't happen to notice that the "main" speed was in KM/h so I was driving around going 25 and 35 KM/h thinking it was MPH.  LOL

Needless to say I was pretty embarassed when I figured out that it was KM/h

Actually I do believe they control the top speed with a rev limiter and it doesn't have anything to do with the transmission.  They use a "special" coilpack that actually shuts off the spark when it goes over a certian RPM to hold it to that speed.

They make kits that I've seen online to remove the speed limitation but that is going to make the engine rev higher and possibly damage it.

Also a FYI... Your speedometer is approx 5mph off and when you think you are going 35-37 you are really going 30-32 ...

Edit:  Also know that if you make changes to the scooter to make it go faster you should go get your motorcycle endorsement because they are limited per DOT regulations however if you have your endorsement you can do anything you want to it.

General Discussion / Re: What Octane Do You Use?
« on: July 09, 2008, 04:46:43 AM »
Let me put it this way.  These bikes are covered by a warranty so the manufacturer wants to make sure that you don't have any problems (its in their best interest).  I follow the owners manual to the letter with the exception of synthetic oil.  The dealer told me that its perfectly alright to burn 89 (midgrade) in it however they are in the business of selling motorcycles.  They also told me that the service intervals are excessive and I only have to do about 1/2 the maintenance that they specify.  Personally I believe very little of what a salesman tells me and I  have followed or exceeded all manufacturer recommendations.

As OlBull said the extra 20 cents (or so) makes it a moot point.  The money you save simply wouldn't be worth any kind of risk.

There is a reason for the high octane fuel.  These air cooled engines have a pretty high compression ratio and run hot the higher octane fuel helps to prevent detonation.  Detonation will cause severe damage to the engine.  This occurs when the fuel burns before the piston hits top dead center.  It can blow holes in pistons and cause other catastrophic failures.  While I'm sure the scooter will run on 89 octane (or even regular) I wouldn't do it for any extended periods and would add octane boost as soon as I possibly could as well as driving 15-20mph to prevent the engine from heating up.

Due to the area which I live in I had no choice but to exceed the manufactures recommended break in period.  I was riding it full throttle 3 days after I recieved it (put about 200 miles on it driving really nicely).  It simply wasn't an option for me to go that slow (safety first).  This bike will do an honest 65 MPH real world speed with a 220 lb 6'3" person on it.  I have found out since I have owned it that it reports the speed 5 MPH over actual.

The fastest speed that it has reported is 75 MPH (70 Actual) and that was going down hill on a rather large bridge.  Going up that bridge I was going approx 60 MPH (Wide Open Throttle).

For me this bike has enough power/speed for its intended purpose currently however my next bike will be something much larger (and more expensive)

Please make sure you understand what has been said above...
