 K-Super8,

Hey good luck with the purchase, hope you enjoy the '50cc'er.  I have the 150, but plan eventually to downsize.  Welcome!

Super 8 / Re: What do you think about the seat ?
« on: September 09, 2013, 12:20:46 PM »
Well, when my '09 was new I found the seat hard, and I was sliding forward all the time, so I bungied a soft lambskin pillow to the sitting area, did that for about 2 years.  Now that the scooter is 3 years old it seems the seat has softened up a bit so I now ride it without the cushion.

I plan to get ahold of some camoflouge material and cover the seat to give it a different look.  I see on Ebay there are a few dealers in England that sell covers for our seats in a few different colors, but I plan to DIY it.

That picture of the purple seat looks great.

Super 8 / Decals jazz up front of scoot
« on: September 09, 2013, 12:15:22 PM »
Hello all.  Over the past few years have collected a number of decals and attached to the front panel of the scooter to give it some interest.  See pic.  Thanks.

Maro0328,

Sorry to hear about the fender bender, hope you are on the mend.  As for the dimming, my '09 dims at idle, but when you give it the gas and the rpm increases, the lights will go to full brightness.  That is normal for the '09.

Super 8 150 / Re: Oil? Gear oil?

bigjames,

I just use 80W90 gear oil I got from the local mower shop.  Gear oil is a very heavy, thick weight oil, not to be confused with regular motor oil that is usually 10W40, 10W30, etc.

Super 8 150 / Re: shop/service manual ?

Just got one by doing a search on Amazon, there is a Kindle version of the manual for about 25 bucks, instant download which is good. Only drawback is I can't print a page from the manual, can only view it on the screen.  Not a problem though, the service manual has lots more info than the owner's manual, and definitely worth the price.

Maro0328,

Congrats on your skills test.  Sounds definitely like there is a loose connection.  I used to have trouble with my clock resetting but that was due to a bad battery.  Once I replace the battery all was well.  I don't think the clock has an internal battery on the Super 8, as nothing is mentioned in the shop manual.

Super 8 150 / Re: top speed
« on: June 23, 2013, 12:42:56 PM »
I have to take a 55mph road to work, and I run my scoot at 60mph, that's as  high as I have taken it.  But I do know my speedometer reads 5MPH higher, so my top speed has been about 55.  Don't enjoy going that fast, but on that road there's no choice.  I like 35mph or so, you can enjoy the signts, sounds, and smells.

Maro0328,

Congrats on your new Super 8, you'll like it a lot.  I have the '09 in Green/Black, it's given me nothing but pleasure on the road.  Enjoy!

Super 8 150 / Air Filter and New Drive Belt
« on: June 21, 2013, 04:48:51 PM »
Hello all,

I need to order a drive belt and air filter, went on line and saw a number of vendors, but does anyone have a recommendation for a reputable on-line Kymco parts dealer?  Thanks.

I don't put that much mileage on the bike, but lukabasic, you are right, it gets changed initially after the break in, then at 1600 miles.  I found that using a 50ml syringe is a good way to add the oil directly into the hole and not make a mess.

Yeah Vivo, the dealer sold me the wrong battery, but got the new one, 8.6 amps, fits nicely in the compartment. Charging it up to full charge right now.  Thanks for all the input folks.

Sorry for the double posting.  I guess I'll pay more attention to the op manual maintenance sked.

Super 8 150 / Gear oil
« on: May 06, 2013, 12:44:34 PM »
Ladies and Gents,

Need some input...decided to change the tranny oil after a couple of years, was pretty dirty.  Manual says to use some kind of 90W transmission oil, but I used 89-90W gear oil since that's all the mower shop had.  He said 90W is hard to come by, but since it's a multiviscosity oil I figure that's OK.  Put it in, and no problems so far.  Was wondering what others use.

Thanks for reading.
