He's hoping you will stop by to buy another scoot or accessories.  Or maybe just wants to say Hi!

People GT 300i / Re: Slippery when Wet?

The only slippage I have experienced is when I ride through a flooded section of road and I mean deep like floorboard level then it cleared up shortly after.  Check belt to make sure it is still within measurment tolorences.  I don't have a GT300, so it maybe just one of those things.

Congrats on the new scooter.  I'm hoping to get one this summer too.  The problem is I need to sell my old and trusty Suzuki 450 and a Buddy 125 scooter.

Is it alright to ask how much you paid for the windshield?  Was shipping very expensive?  I haven't purchased this scooter yet, but hope to by end of the month.  Windshield is a must for me.
Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Crashed my car to miss hitting possum.

Sorry about the accident.  My insurance agent told me to just hit the animal.  It doesn't count on your insurance points.  But if you crash your vehicle swerving to miss the animal, then it will be counted as an accident and your rates could go up.  Another new instinct to learn!  Mostly glad you weren't on the scooter and most of all you are not hurt.

Hopefully Mr. Lee will work on providing more accessories for Kymco scooters.  The one thing I feel Kymco is missing out.

General Discussion / Re: Freezing Winter Weather Gloves recommendations

My wife uses these little heat packs that you remove the plastic packaging and need or shake the pack and it produces heat.  She puts one in each mitten and in her boots and has never complained of the cold again.  You can find them in sporting goods stores and are used for hunting and ice fishing.

Downtown 300 / Re: Warm hands?
« on: November 23, 2011, 01:46:16 AM »
Years ago I made my own hippo hands.  Not the nicest looking but who cares as long as they worked.  With lined or insulated sewn onto the nylon fabric it would even be easier.  Mittens also work well when gloves are too cold.  You can also buy electric mittens that run on a separate battery pack.  Lastly you can buy these little heat packs that you open need the packet and it produces heat.  My wife puts them in her mittens and boots and she has never complained about cold again.  They last for several hours too.
Just watch out for black ice especially at intersections where cars exhaust makes the black ice.
Happy Trails!

Downtown 300 / How to adjust valves on DT300?
« on: November 10, 2011, 11:20:31 PM »
Has anyone checked or adjusted the valves on their DT300?  Is it difficult to get the job done?  Do you have to remove a lot of plastic panels to get this job done?  I have done valve adjustments on motorcycles and Genuine Buddy 125 but never on the DT300.
Thanks.

I just received a message from Bob Hedstrom of Scooterville, Minneapolis, MN that the GT 300i is now in his shop and that Dave Harrington of www.justgottascoot.com is doing a review that will be posted shortly.  Hopefully one will find its way into my garage.

General Discussion / How Reliable are Kymco Fuel Injected Scooters
« on: July 29, 2011, 11:55:23 AM »
I'm hoping to buy a new Kymco scooter and the new GTi300 is looking really nice to me.  But how reliable has fuel injection been for Kymco?  Is there a pattern of specific problems?  I also have a dealer that has a new People 250 left and may consider that if FI is problematic for Kymco.

Your advice is always appreciated.

It is diffidently a premature breakage of your belt.  But then it could very well be a defective belt which can happen to anyone even though still be very rare.  Great that it was only a belt issue which is easy and relatively inexpensive to repair.  Happy riding.

Not sure how much money was spent on gas or how many gallons.  Hopefully he will tell me soon and I will post it.  I made a similar trip in my youth with a Suzuki 500 Titan motorcycle.  Do it today...you bet I would.  His biggest problem was finding camp grounds that weren't miles down gravel roads as he road on smaller highways or state highways.
