I'm a lifelong biker and look the part: 6'2, 260, beard, long hair, and tattoos. Rather intimidating to the general population.  But when out on the Scooter, children laugh, women smile, and dogs chase me down the street.  I'll take THAT  instead...

General Discussion / Re: Winter is riding season in Alabama.

I lived in Maine for 4 years.  I rode every month while I was there.

Wait a minute:  used to live in Maine, now you live in Alabama....  Are you me in a parallel dimension?  I'd say we got some story swapping to do...

Up there I'd ride in Winter on the odd day the sun would allow, then spend hours trying to get the salt off my bike.  But once I bought the KLR I didn't care about that, ain't no chrome on a dirt bike.

You're a man to be reckoned with, sir.  I'm impressed.  Down here in Lower Alabama it is currently 27°, but soon as it breaks 40 I'm bundling up and rolling.  At least we don't have snow down here, so as we used to say in Maine "Any day the plows ain't out"...

I once got caught in snow, with no other way home.  Put my feet out wide like little  pontoons and skidded my way down the road.  In retrospect it was one of my more idiotic moves, something only a very young man would do. Lived to tell the tale but never pushed my luck that far again.

It's cold alrght.  Just rode my scooter into town, bundled up in the same clothes I used to SNOWmobile in back up to Maine.  Seems a shame, given that I'm less than two miles from the Florida line...  And far as smells go, it's Alabama, so, mostly bacon...

Bought a Cyclepedia shop manual for my Like200i and was so impressed I got another for my Honda Ruckus.  They're thorough, well documented, and THICK.  Very affordable too, just over $30 to the door with one year online access included.  Highly recommended.

Dave Chappelle is also a rider.

If that's true, then Stig, it's your solemn duty to introduce him to the wonders of Scooter Life.  Get crackin'...

M as first letter in VIN indicates Made in China!

I believe an "L" indicates Chinese manufacture.  An "M" would be Thailand, India, or Indonesia.

Apparently in some countries this is a motorized version of running with the bulls.  Tough on fences and chickens, but a real morale booster for the locals, who do everything but hold up scorecards.  I gave the chicken a 9.3 based on speed and style.

LIKE 200i / Re: New to me 2012 - need advice
« on: January 21, 2019, 11:05:00 AM »
Wow, that is a great deal.  You're sure to enjoy your new Like200i, it really is a well made little bike.  If you are at all handy, it's well worth learning to maintain and repair the Kymco yourself.  A fluid change and valve inspection/adjustment are easy and a good idea.  Hope you enjoy your new scoot, let us know how you get along.

Got my $100 discount last June, dealer took it right off the price to lower my sales tax burden.  Had to show my DD214 as proof, and that was it.  Easy.

The 2019 Like 150 without Noodoe is $2399 and comes in four colors.  Check that same catalog, you'll see.

Whoops, that was the Fifty, not the One Fifty I was looking at.  D-oh!

General Discussion / Re: ABS, how primitive.......

Nope.  Don't want that, traction control, active suspension, ABS, none of it.  There's not a computer made that could begin to compete with a human brain.  And isn't half the fun of riding "becoming one" with your machine?
