My problem? It's slow as hell!  :( Has anyone else got one, and had experience with getting it to go a bit faster – perhaps by replacing the CDI?

There should be a purple wire with a pink tracer that loops at the CDI. Cut it to derestrict.

You can fit the carb without using the TPS. I’ve done it plenty of times on the older model super 8 150, as they don’t have the a TPS connection on the wire harness. The carb you’ve  received is for the newer sports model super 8 125. But if you wish to make use of the TPS, you’ll have to change the wire harness to the same as the Super 8 125 sport model.
