Kymco News / Re: Spade Review
« on: June 12, 2018, 12:07:26 AM »
Stig....I have been there many times.  This time I didn't particularly intend to buy anything.  I just knew they had Kymco's in the past.  Ride One was their previous Internet Name.  They do have a good wide selection of everything,  especially Scooters.   I was asked once if I could be helped,  but there were few customers at that time.  It's a good 3 hour trip for me from home.   I have very few bike needs anymore,  but I do like to keep up with the market.   I have become more fond of Thompson Motorsports in Terre Haute.   But it's still an hour trip there.  I believe Kymco has a good product from my experience.   Around here the biggest Scooter Market is for those who've lost their Driver's Licenses.

Kymco News / Spade Review
« on: June 10, 2018, 12:11:39 AM »
Purposely stopped at Competition Accessories in Springfield, Ohio during my 300 mile trip home today.  I knew they handled Kymco (I've had 3).  I bought a Kaw. Z-125 before the Spade came out.  They had one today.  I didn't get to ride it,  but here's some things I liked.  The seat height is lower and really easy to get on and off.   Simple,  No plastic body panels to break or scratch.  Fenders Are plastic,  but that's Ok.  Gas Tank appeared to be steel.  The lights are mounted on open Metal Brackets.  They claim top speed around 66 mph with 150cc's.  I get 63 mph on the Z-125 with the wind at my back.  Wheelbase seemed to be longer and riding position seemed to be better as handle bars seemed further away.  Had I known about the Spade I sure would have waited.  I'm almost 69 y/o so I need something smaller and lighter since I've had a few spills.   I'm not sure I liked the Ignition Key under the tank, but that's Ok too.

Xciting 250 / GPS Speedometer Replacement
« on: July 22, 2017, 07:58:18 PM »
I purchased the Sensor Wire for around $50+.  Cannot get new one to work.  Ordered a GPS Speedometer 70mm Dia. and have received it.  Wondering if the Gauge Panel will allow removal of the Stock Speedometer and allow replacement of the new one?    Urbestfriend

Kymco News / Re: New Kymco Spade 150fi & Like 150
« on: June 30, 2017, 11:18:38 PM »
Urbestfriend is going on one year with a 2017 Kawasaki Z-125.  I still have the Xciting 250,  No market here for my Grandvista so it's in Virginia with my son.  I'm 67 now and the bigger bikes were too hard to pick up if they fell over.  I chose the Z-125 because of the larger gas tank and cheaper than the Grom.  This bike is extremely nimble,  goes 55 and 63 with the wind at my back.  It was hard learning the clutch after 60k riding Scooters.  No issues with the smaller tires.  Being a Loyal Kymco Fan,  I wished I had known about this new Spade.  150cc's would have really put me in the ball park.  I-69 is being extended through here on an existing state highway.  Two to Four Lanes with many differences in pavement during construction.  Handles well.

« on: July 24, 2016, 12:58:59 AM »
I am selling my GV.  Also too big and heavy for an old man to push around.  Bought it in 2009 with 2k Miles.  Now has 10k.  Has Retro reflective Tape like a UK Police Vehicle.  LED's Front & Rear,  Air Horn, Hopkins Deer Alert,  Operators Manuals and Service Manual on a Flash Drive.  Over 50% of my riding was after dark before I retired.  Depending on your size,  you can get around 60 Mpg and 70 Mph.  They will see you coming.

$850.00.  Located Bloomington, Indiana.  Private Message if interested.

I did replace my stator.   As a Back-Up,  I now have a digital Voltmeter that plugs into any 12 VDC.  Receptical.   You can also use a Volt Ohm Meter,   But you can pick-up the digital type for $10-15.  Mine is on all the time now and it's an easy check.   I'd do this first.

Both GV and Xciting 250 use 900 mL.  Buy a cheap plastic measuring cup in the Kitchen Utensils.  Fill it to 900 ml. or .9 Lt.  Use a funnel and pour it in.   And this includes removing the bottom screen and cleaning it.

Are you sure you're not worrying a lot about nothing ?  I have 9 or 10 LED lights on each bike.  When looking at the Voltmeter,  there is no significant change whether on of off.  Cell Phone Charger shouldn't use that much either.  In fact, I'm not sure the Charge Port is even on when the Ignition is off.  The other thing is you could put a double throw switch between the two batteries and select the one you want.   Best of all,  the extra battery at my feet ca

I am now using Float Chargers,  One on each of the two bikes and one on the Wheelhorse with the Plow on it.  Usually less than $10.  Next I bought a 12VDC Multiplier  (Plugs into the outlet offers three or four extra outlets.)  Then I bought a Digital Voltmeter that plugs into the Multiplier.  These 3 items were around $30 total.  These batteries only last 2-3 years,  so I hope the Float Chargers extend the life.   How do you mount these items?  Go to K&J Magnetics and order a set of RX033CS-P Magnets $8.  Remove one of the screws in the Brake Reservoir and replace it with a longer countersunk screw.  Take the other magnet and mount it (Maybe JB Weld)  it to the bottom of the Multiplier.  Be sure your magnetic poles are right.  Now you can see the Volt Meter.  I also have LED lights and a Hopkin's Deer Alert hooked up.

Xciting 250 / Re: Just purchased 2009 Xciting 250

Sorry.....Lane and fell over.  Also had a deer run into me one morning on the way to work.  Deer Lived,  I fell off.
I have installed a lot of reflective tape and I recommend stay to the left when turning left or when following someone straight.  You can find my photos probably under my name.   I rate this a GOOD BIKE...

Urbestfriend thinks you made a good choice.  I also have a 2009 with some 15,000miles.  Have been on many 60 mile one-way trips.  I started out with a Vino 125 and a Agility 50.  Then I jumped to a Grandvista.  Got an excellent deal on the Xciting.
250 still can keep up with traffic.  I'm about your size 5-10 with 29" Inseam.  Slightly higher than Grandvista,  but still maneuverable.  I mounted an air horn,  Hopkins Deer Alert,  Extra LEDs front and rear and a plug in Voltmeter.  I've added several  12 VDC connectors.  However try to do most everything "ONCE" as removing the front cowl and replacing it causes the screws to strip out.  Sorry to say,  you will drop it sooner or later.  I was going real slow in my graveled la

Go to Walmart and get plastic measuring cup that hold at least 900 ml.  Now fill the cup, then put it in the engine using a funnel.

Phil Waters was Pride of Cleveland Scooters.  Apparently they either consolidated as Clevelandmoto or opened a second outlet.  Be sure to check out their website,  if you haven't.  I think you'll like the seat.  Personally I feel more secure with a buckled in feeling.
