I think so since the Kymco analyzer tool shows hours somewhere in its display. It could be in the speedo head...I don't really know! Sorry!

The digital gauge (speedo head) doesn't control any fuel or spark does it?

Fried ECU. He hooked up backwards first time...

I agree with you crossbolt. The memory for the machine hours is stored on the ECU correct?

He says he jumped it from a car battery but I dont know for sure. I am also unsure how long he charged the bad battery for and at what setting but I do know it was still hooked up to the atv while charging. What else could prevent spark and fuel and show 9999.9 hours ?? Anything?

Kymco 450i maxxer.New battery, It is turning over but no spark and the fuel pump does not turn on. The gear indicator also displays "E". The hour meter is showing 9999.9 hours. Bad ecu? Any ideas?? The owner said last year he tried charging the old battery which was dead. It wouldn't charge so he jump started it then it ran for a minute or two then died. I'm thinking maybe he shorted out the ecu with the charger or from jump starting. It will turn over in gear only if the brakes are depressed. If you put it in reverse the reverse lights come on. But the gear indicator still says "E". I dont know about kymco but on other machines I've worked on the hour meter memory is stored on the ECU. This machine only has 20 or 30 hours on it. Is there anything besides the ECU that would control the fuel pump and spark? All connections and fuses are good and wire harness appears to be ok.
