Yager GT 200i / Re: Givi Fitment Rack

These are the 'w' clamps that come with the top case that can be used to attach it to an OEM back rack - these were used in 2023 on the Scoooer Cannonball but do not provide a secure attachment (IMO).

The SR90 specific base provides a much more solid, supported base for attachment of the monolock base.

This is my Frost as it was in the Scooter Cannonball with top case directly attached to the OEM back rack.

Nice sturdy looking rack.
Could we see some photos of your scooter, as it is today - and as it was, race ready?
Thanks !
Stig

Hey guys,
Sorry for the delayed reply. I was abroad for a while and upon return it did work well, but now the problem re-occured.
I did check for the switch, but I could not find it.
@Ruffus: Where should it be (see attached fotos)?

I had a difficult time starting my Kymco Frost (Yager) when the battery was a bit low - if attempting to start it for > 30 seconds and it doesn't start, the spark plug will also be wet so even if you charge the battery for a few hours, it still may not start unless you dry out the spark plug first.

Yager GT 200i / Re: Kymco Yeager / Dink 200I Vario topspeed...

Hi Guys,

Breaking in again for a moment :D After the rebuilding adventure from the Dink 200 previous year I used it on a lot  on regular basis, much more than my other bikes because handles so easy in busy traffic.

But another question, the previous owner told me the scooter is equipped now with an Malossi vario/clutch. The original was also coming with the scooter.

The scooter is pulling up pretty good but the top speed is lacking a bit, even there is still enough power left. With 120km/h the RPM limiter is coming in, so the max speed on the highway is arround 105km/h on the right lane.

What will be the best way to increase top speed?

That value sounds about right.  You'd be around 8500 rpm correct?

Hey Neuvie,

I posed a couple of pics of the case and just the rack on the "How To" section and this Yager section with the heading "Givi kit installed-hooray"

I am very happy with the Givi kit and you can mount about any top case with its own plate once you get the fitment kit on.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Yes I know it has been many many years since this post above appeared but the advice has been a life saver for me!  The GIVI TOP CASE SPECIFIC RACK MONOLOCK - SR90 is still available (in Canada) https://www.gpbikes.com/givi-top-case-specific-rack-monolock-sr90 and it fits perfect! I have used it to attach the Givi 37 L top case and now it is solid.

Not sure if anyone on this forum knows I took a Kymco Frost (aka Yager, aka Dink 200i) on the 2023 Scooter Cannonball (San Clemente CA to Hilton Head Is, NC over 8 days) but my top case was attached to the OEM back rack with 4 "W" shaped brackets (I bought it that way).  When the road gets rough, these "W" brackets do NOT work.  I lost my top case on washboard dirt roads, not once but twice.  A documentary film maker (watch for "The Big Scoot" coming soon) captured the moment I was wrestling to try and get the top case back on as other riders stormed past.  The SR90 top case specific rack fits over the OEM back rack (without touching it) and has braces further back to better support the top case. I'm sure it will be much better in 2025 as I'm registered again for the next Cannonball!   Here are some photos of the bracket.

@Ruffus: thanks for the detailed explication.

To update on my case:
I did get to it yesterday already and checked the battery cables. Current was flowing fine. My Yager doesn't have the socket, so I looked at the lamp.
I then figured out that the issue is way simpler after all.. the light bulb was not switched off by closing mechanism of the seat. I tested it by taking a video with the phone in the helmet compartment. I then put some grease on it and closed it a few times with more force + some verifications with a screwdriver.

The light bulb now switches off and so far the scooter starts nice and smooth each try. I will let him stand over the weekend and update again, but I am pretty confident that this was the issue. Just beyond disappointed and surprised that both shops didn't figure this out.

When I'm working on my Kymco with the seat open, to save battery power, I will manually close the latch at the back with my finger or the blade of a screwdriver (you could test the light turning off this way as well).  To close the seat again, use the key as you would to unlatch the seat first, then close it.

Count the number of flashes. I believe it is giving you an error code.

I bought this Kymco GT300i part by mistake - costs too much to return to the Netherlands but cheaper to send to the US (I'm in Canada) - its yours for the price of shipping. Part number is 64400 -LGE5-E00-N1R (black under cowl).  Still in original plastic wrap.

cheers,

Yager GT 200i / Re: Kymco Yager 200 Roller spec's
« on: August 24, 2021, 06:20:26 PM »
Best thing you can do for a Yager. Get one of these:
https://scooterpartsco.com/kymco/kymco-yager-200/malossi-variator-for-kymco-and-sym-scooters?zenid=e345232f79d5076a72cd1c216f5754e9
Comes with 2 sets of rollers 9.5 and 13.5 gr., both are way too light for normal street riding. I ordered 17 gr. which for me were just right. I've tested both stock and 3 different weight Malossi's on my secret dyno test facility. Acceleration numbers for 1/8th mile are:
stock ......13.14 sec. @ 6412 rpm
Malossi W/9.5 gr.....12.20 @ 8740
            W/13.5 gr......12.26 @ 7921
            W/17 gr. .....12.63 @ 7243
The Malossi with 17gr. rollers yields a solid 1/2 second improvement in 1/8th mile times.
Stock rollers are a odd size, 20.8 dia x 15 wide at 17.5 gr.

Thanks.  Good advice.  I just installed the Malossi multivar, belt and clutch. In the variator I used a combination of the two roller weights as, according to the leaflet that came with the variator, a 175 cc scoot falls in between their recommendations for the 9.5 gm and 13.5 gm rollers.  See photo attached.

Thanks for the reply. I have looked all over the internet and am unable to find where Keyway ever used this engine. Could I ask where you found this? Just to be clear, The engine although called a 200 is actually 174.5 cc. Also the engine is fuel injected and liquid cooled. As I said I'm searching all over and cannot find another scoot that uses this engine. Any help would be great, Thanks, Ernie

I have heard the same as KymcoRockr stated: the Yager ('Frost' in Canada) motor is a Honda SH150 with a big bore kit. I heard this from the guy who runs 'scooterpartsco'.

Yager GT 200i / Re: My Yager is stalling!! Please help
« on: September 26, 2020, 09:27:47 PM »
With the help of the parts counter guy at our local MC store (Ottawa Good Time Centre), I salvaged the connectors on the old spark plug cable and added them to a new $1 piece of cable.

Runs like a charm now.

Well, after consider efforts to no avail on my part, I am happy (but also a bit chastened to confess) that I have, finally, sorted out the cause of the moderate/higher speed stalling and tachometer 'diving' issue.

Faulty spark plug cable.  Photo of culprit attached.

My fault for starting at the coil and working the other way to the stator.  Then thought is was a fuel issue.  Fuel pump checked out, no plugged air vent from the tank, fuel vapour value OK too. I taped the outside of the sparkplug cable also to ensure no leakage, as was reported in this thread but that didn't help. On the plus side, I have learned a lot about the electrical and fuel system but the most important lesson for me was that I should have started on the easy to test/fix items first.
