Hi guys,
Just joined up after reading a ton of really, really helpful posts up here about derestricting a Kymco Super 8. I've already learned a ton but I'd be really grateful if a few of you could really break down what I'd need to do to get some mainly more top-end (but also a little more acceleration off the line) out of my specific model: a 2015 Kymco Super 8 50x 4-stroke. I live in a pretty hilly part of NC and both would help a ton. Here's what I think I know: I need to get unrestricted bushings for my boss drive, get a bigger carb, and do some tuning (or replace) the CDI box. I guess my questions boil down to:
1) Should I get an aftermarket variatior kit (like a Pollini) instead of just the bushings? Do I need both?
2) Can I adjust the intake of the carb without replacing the carb itself? (This is the impression I get but it seems to vary according to model and year).
3) What do I need to do with the CDI box?
4) Where should I start?
5) Is there anything else I should do/know?
Any boost at all in performance would make a HUGE difference. I'm not an expert mechanic but I'm also not a complete novice, and from the stuff I've read and seen, I think I can handle most of it. If not, I have a couple of buddies who are much more mechanically inclined than I am.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
