LIKE 200i / Re: Parts Availability?
« on: February 26, 2019, 03:06:48 AM »
Thanks for all the input. Have been going round and round with a nice older gentleman who has been getting info from...drum roll...a Kymco salesperson! I kinda thought so. Naturally they would like to sell him a new scoot, even if it is a discontinued model! But, he recognizes that my scoot with 700 miles on it is a real deal...even if the figure he presented me with actually came from, who else, the sales guy. He is coming to see it this week and I hope he ends up buying it. I will pass on the encouraging comments from you seasoned Like owners. Not getting what I hoped to but if it gels, it is acceptable.

Thanks Again!

LIKE 200i / Parts Availability?
« on: February 16, 2019, 01:15:06 AM »
You may have seen my ad for my 2018 Like. I had a man ask me about future parts availability since the 200 is now discontinued by Kymco. Don't most manufacturers make parts for several years after they quit making the actual scooter. Or...at least have a good supply since in the case of the Like, they were made for several years? I know that for many bikes and scooters (and certainly cars and trucks) parts are readily available for a long time after the model (or even the brand) is discontinued. Any thoughts on this since I may have others ask about it? Thanks!

Hi Sccoteristas,
May be moving to a senior park that does not allow scooters  :'(. I just put my Like 200i on craigslist in the Ocala, Florida edition. You can read all about it there and if interested, I will give any forum member a discount. Just let me know if you read the post here.
Thanks!

Since this windshield is a little wider than it is tall, the wind is deflected a bit around your hands. Will see how much when it gets cooler. A Givi shield that I had on my Majesty came across the front of the grips, That was nice!

The red rubber bands (very observant) are my "parking brakes". Since the scoot moves freely when parked, I use the bands over the brake levers if I park on an incline. Keeps it from drifting forward or back. I do use the center stand, but the convenience of the side stand is great for quick stops. The motorcycles I have had used a kill switch when the side stand went down, The scoot does not. The rubber bands are the small thick ones from broccoli bunches. Red makes them easy to spot in case I were to try and make a quick getaway  :)

Must be different scooting at 25. Mid fifties is my cut-off temp. Grew up scootin' in Miami (Florida). Central Florida was "up North" to me. Can't quite fathom the idea of scooting when it is below freezing! Must be some tough scooterists up your way!

Hi Scooterists,
A brief report from an old dog who just had to have a windshield. Most bikes/scooters in the past had them or I put them on. I bought the Scoot 66 from slipstreamer (found it on ebay for 72 bucks). The height works for me at 5'8" and deflects the wind to just above my helmet. I only moved it up an inch from the lowest point. It took some creative adjusting and fiddling to get it even on both sides, but eventually succeeded. Mostly. Still need to angle the shield away from the right mirror stalk a bit. Found out while installing (mirror stalks do have to come off), that the Kymco Like 200i does not have the left hand threads on one of the mirrors. The hardware package was complete for this scoot. Although it has been in the low 90's around here, I get enough breeze to suffice for now, and will appreciate it this Winter while riding at a chilly 65 or so. Enjoying the scoot very much, THANKS AGAIN for all the informative posts.

The man I bought this from had a Burgman 400 for sale. An older gent had just bpight the Like and had 400 miles on...and (I know how that goes) REALLY liked scootin', but wanted bigger, faster machine. He asked the man..."can I trade my scooter in to YOU?" Yes, he replied. He bought it for riding in the campground and brought it camping and gave his little dog rides on it. Sold the camper. Little dog went to the Big Sleep. No longer needed the scooter. The ad was for 1650 (with 475 miles) and I got it for a little less. It is white...like our car!

The seat ridge IS bothersome. I used an electric meat carving knife on my Gold Wing seat and topped it with a gel pad. May be looking with an evil eye toward the Like seat one dark and rainy night  ;D

If I were to write on the signature line all the 2 wheelers I have had ... starting with my Cushman Husky at age 12, some here might think I was stretching it a bit for bragging rights,...so for now I will just say that so far this latest scoot is a hoot and a credit to it's brethren.

Will try to add a pic or two if I can do so without crashing the site.

LIKE 200i / I am Liking my new Like

Hi scooterists,
Just bought a new to me 2018 Like 200i. It had less than 500 miles on it. Got a good deal. Was looking for something bigger, having had an Aprilia Atlantic 500 and a Yamaha Majesty 400. Was looking at a larger scooter, but saw this and felt that for just cruising around and running errands, this should work fine. Just received the windshield and installed it yesterday. Chose the Scoot 66 by Slipstreamer . Found it on ebay for 72 dollars. It is shorter and since I am 5'8", it deflects the wind just over my helmet. I added a home-made backrest using a Ryobi toolbag filled with air pillows used for shipping. Feels good on the lower back. I also added a footrest that extends out 5" beyond the edges of the scooter so I can move my feet out a bit on a longer trip. Then...a "poor man's cruise control" using a rubber o-ring between the throttle grip and the metal end. That way I can drop my hand to get circulation back without losing speed. Making short trips around the hood for now while I get used to the handling. Seems to run well and is fairly quick. Getting considerable road vibration at 50mph but I did bring the tires up to spec inflation. Maybe I should take a pound or two out? Lots of good info on this forum. Thanks to all the scooter people for posting. I can add some pics if I can figure out how.
