Had this problem with my 700i- sometimes I forget when filling....It reminds me....I decided to carry 2 rotopaks for an additional 4.5-5 gallons....Never had to use them yet- I use them to fill the yard tractor. ;D

Speed is supposed to be governed to 48 mph, sounds like a clutch sticking or slipping. Remove the cvt cover and inspect belt/clutches.

Did they ever fix the accuracy of the speedometer unit? My 2018 has always read 25% fast.. See one of my old posts.....

made by shockpros in Canada...

Kinda spendy, and looks like they could be homemade, but I did see a set of them on a new 700i at my dealer in Butte MT. They looked pretty good, but never went for a ride with them so dont know about sturdyness or flexibility..
YMMV, but that is the door in the picture.
The website shows a door that fits the old style cage on the 700, but the ones I saw were on a new style 700i LE cage. You might contact the mfg if interested......

Side By Side / Re: Extended Warranty
« on: August 03, 2019, 10:54:57 AM »
Well as the story goes, "the times, they are a changing"....Got a call back from two separate folks at the mother ship yesterday and the party line now is that the 12 month warranty is broken up into different time periods....6 months bumper to bumper, then the next 3 months are drive train, then the last 3 months are engine only....What a crock....I also talked to representative from Cornerstone, as the mother ship indicated that they do not dabble in extended warranties at all...
I knew that the Cornerstone call was not going to go well when the representative asked me if I "was a dealer, or Just a Customer"...They would not give me any info on any of the plans, saying that it was privileged information between them and the dealer. Too late in the day by the time I got to them due to time difference between East coast and MDT to pursue it further, so I will have to wait til Monday to get with my dealer and see if they have even heard of Cornerstone.....He had indicated that he had not sold any extended warranties to this date so I kinda doubt that he is even signed up with Cornerstone.  Ah well, as the stomach turns....Not real thrilled with the experience at this point....They still have not owned up the 25% difference in the speedometer accuracy problem either.  Although my machine has not given me trouble yet, I am less than satisfied with the Kymco experience. The folks at Kymco indicated that there was no way to offer a 12 month warranty (complete) on an off-road vehicle as there are so many ways of breaking it when off roading....I still have not been able to find paperwork saying the warranty terms which they are now hanging their hat...Only thing I have found is the complete 12 month warranty indication....  Kinda makes you wonder. Anyway am still waiting for one more person to get back to me from the mother ship to see if they will be allowed to honor the warranty they have in print.....

I wonder if folks who buy Can-Am, Polaris, Arctic Cat etc have these issues??

Side By Side / Extended Warranty

Hi all- has anyone had any experience with Kymco's extended warranty?
Checked with my dealer yesterday and since he had not sold one, he emailed the mother ship for info. They came back and indicated that you could only buy an extended warranty while the original was in place and since the UXVs and ATVs were only warranteed for 6 months, I was not eligible.
Surprised?? You bet. I distinctly remember seeing in print that all Kymco machines had 12 month warranty. I purchased my 2018 back in September 18 and was really surprised to hear that not only was the extended warranty off the table, but I was also out of regular warranty since March.  Soo, I went back and got the 2018 catalog that I referred to for purchase information and lo and behold, on the back page says 12 mo warranty on all Kymco.. Scooters, Motorcycles, ATV and UTV..
Sounds a little fishy to me.....Anyway I photocopied the front and back of the catalog and sent it back to the dealer so he could re-contact the mother ship...Wonder if they changed the rules for 2019?  If they did I think they should still be on the hook for their conditions for 2018 until my machine passes the 12 month mark...
Any thoughts?

Side By Side / Re: Winch Mount??
« on: April 12, 2019, 10:54:28 AM »
Well, when you get to winching, be careful..ended up bending up the winch mount which on my 700i LE is part of the front bumper assy... Was not happy with winch that came standard on the Kymco- had either no brake or one that didnt keep the plow up when winched up....Anyway, dealer warranteed the winch, and we came to a deal to upgrade the winch to a KFI......went to go have it swapped out and found the bent up mount..... Currently waiting for new bumper to arrive so we can change the whole thing out...Just wondering how the new winch (3500#) will work when the 3000# winch bent up the mounting plate....I think there may be some plans to reinforce that plate as part of the install......
As the stomach turns.........

Heck

Update 4/22:  Got new bumper and updated winch installed today- Dealer fabbed up a plate to strengthen the mount- Just got home and have a 4 day work shift schedule, so wont be able to do some testing until this next weekend.... Now we're going to see how Kymco stands by their product... (If they warranty the mount....)

Just a thought- if you have the windshield that wraps around the front bars requiring minor surgery to mount side mirrors, and you have the Kymco factory mirrors, Shining a flashlight through the mirror mount holes from the cab side out will project a point of light on the side of the windshield where you need to drill a hole that will allow mounting the mirror....Using one of those newer LED flashlights will give you quite a bit of light to project onto the windshield.
Mounted mine that way and didnt have to notch the windshield....came out pretty clean...

YMMV....

FWIW, any wireless cameras that I have used have always been subject to interference, giving poor picture quality....Also, the brightness of the screen on the low end camera monitors leaves a lot to be desired in bright daylight... I have always gone to a hard wired camera which fixes the interference problem but the monitor screen problem remains....(Works great at night though!!)

Airshot- What size KFI winch do you have?  Also which machine is it mounted on?

So, my 700i LE came with a NuJet winch- I cannot find any info on line as to specifications etc  (the winch brake does not hold the plow up in the air- you raise the plow and it just slowly drops..).  The info from Kymco says it is a 3000# winch. it uses 3/16 cable. The cable is junk- frays quickly then breaks. I've had to repair it twice now this snow season. Like everyone, I dont want to sink a ton of money into a winch, but am willing to spend enough that I dont have the problems that I have been having up to this point. Anyone have Specs on the Nujet? Apples for apples.........

Hi Trailjunkee- fairly new owner here too....
Was wondering if you bought the 700i or the 700i LE version as they have a redesigned roll cage on the LE...It has a couple of bends in it that the 700i doesnt have.. I've had no luck in getting anything aftermarket as far as cab parts for it either. In fact my dealer sold another LE right after I picked mine up and they wanted that pricey cab installed.... I saw the finished product before they picked it up and they had to change out the LE roll bar setup for the standard 700i setup so it would fit....
Just got off the phone with the Kymco Mothership in South Carolina (Kymco USA) and they indicated that the new cab parts are "in the works" but no info as to pricing and availability yet.
I guess we wait and continue to get dusted out every time we get in the machine.
Your dealer should be able to adjust the switch on the brake that allows starting in all the gears so you dont have to press the brake as hard. I would imagine that you want to press hard enough to fully engage the brake before starting, however mine just takes a normal brake application to be able to start it- nothing earth shattering.
Have fun with it!!
BTW have you checked your speedometer accuracy with a GPS?  Mine runs about 25% fast on both speed and odometer...For reference, that is for 500 odometer miles, (service interval) you are actually only putting about 400 or so miles on the machine.... I have an inquiry into the mothership for that issue too...It seems to be fairly common, but not really acceptable...
Cheers !!!

Cant find any aftermarket doors or rear panel for the '18 700i LE.....They changed the roll cage shape on the LE and dont think the aftermarket is even trying to catch up.....Dealer sold one just like mine about a week after he sold mine and they ordered the 3900 cab kit from Kymco. Dealer had to put the 700i roll cage (Not the LE) onto the LE just to fit the cab kit.   Fail....

So I didnt get to the phone in time- darn time zone differences...Anyhoo I was thinking that the speedo might be off but the odometer would be right....Wrong!!
Speedo and Odometer error are right in line with each other.. Up to 25% off on the high end. Sounds like a heck of a way to make extra service dept money. With an average 20% error, the Service intervals in the owners manual instead of being 500 miles for most fluid changes etc are actually every 400 miles.... Would certainly like to see Kymco take ownership of this and come up with a solution.....Thinking the cost of doing business (ie maintenance intervals) is pretty excessive. I'm sure that the US Distributor at least occasionally looks at this forum.......How about doing the right thing and offering up a solution???  Hmmm???
