People GT 300i / Re: Possible overheating
« on: October 16, 2023, 07:13:24 PM »
Thank you Ruffus! :)
On my People, the water pump has a drain screw. But not all the coolant comes out this way. You have to lift the front wheel very much to empty totally the circuit. My only fear was of overheating the head gasket, but probably it requires more to make damages

People GT 300i / Possible overheating
« on: October 15, 2023, 12:28:13 PM »
Good morning guys  :) Yesterday I replaced coolant on my People Gti 125. I made a mistake. When filling new coolant, I started the engine for some seconds (classic procedure to bleed air), revving up lightly, topping up while radiator level was going down and after shutting off the engine I opened the bleed screw near thermostat to bleed air from the circuit. After 6-7 times of this start&stop, air was still coming out from the bleed screw. It seemed strange to me so much air was still trapped, so I started the engine and let it idle for minutes to see what happened then. I was waiting for the fan to start, but it didn't. How can I know if the cooling fan is broken without a diagnosis scan tool?
Also, after 7-8 minutes the temperature went from the safe level 2, to level 3. I immediately turned off the engine.  Then it happened a second time after, evidently there were still some air bubbles inside. Or it was simply overheating because it was idling still and fan not working. At some point also the CEL appeared but I turned off immediately. Do you think I could have damaged the engine? Or the new coolant itself?
Thank you

I'm sorry I'm reading only now this post. I've replaced the bearings on my Gti 125 and the bearings are the same of your Gti300 if I remember well. I used aftermarket ones even if different from genuine ones but they work fine for now.

People GT 300i / Coil going bad?
« on: June 22, 2023, 09:40:03 PM »
Hi guys  :) Two weeks ago my People Gti 125 died on deceleration at a traffic light. Then it was hard to restart but in the end it started. Since then all fine, but today I had the check engine light giving me error code for the coil (at least what my service manual says).
Should I measure coil resistance just to prevent the total failure?
Could it be a too old spark plug (it has 5k miles on it)?

Thank you for your help as always  ;)

People GT 300i / Re: Oil residues inside air filter box

I think it's engine oil because I use Motul (red, like the buildup). Gear oil is yellow and I never overfilled it, but I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks Ruffus :-)

People GT 300i / Oil residues inside air filter box
« on: March 14, 2023, 10:19:00 PM »
Hi everyone. Today I found a good amount of oil build up inside air filter box, and inside the throttle.
It never happened before. Do you think that short trips could cause this?
Or a bad valve adjustment? A mechanic told me he did it last year....

Thanks for help :)

People GT 300i / Re: Rear fork oil seal?
« on: March 14, 2023, 09:58:41 PM »
Thank you very much. I'll read everything carefully.  Today I noticed a longitudinal play in the rear axle. It can move of about 1 mm in and out. Seemed strange to me, I don't know if it's normal. I also have the doubt that the swing arm is inserted all the way in, but I checked for rear wheel play and it's not present so I suppose it's fine.

There's play in the wheel if I turn it forward and back. Do you think gear is gone? I'll read your links

:) :) Usually I'm OCD about these things, what I meant is that I don't think it could have been damaged during unmounting of the wheel, and it has only 7 years of life. If it was an oil seal I'd replace it no question at all, but probably it's fine to keep it there. But I'll call the dealer to see if it has it ready to sell  ;)

I could replace only the internal one, the other (with code LLB1) can be replaced only if I remove the bearing, right?

Thanks again

Thank you. I hope I didn't damage anything because the rear fork was quite hard to remove and I wiggled by hand. I didn't have a puller of the right size. I won't replace the seal, it doesn't seem a part that fundamental to me.

Thank you! A lot of dirt has fallen inside, between the seal and the bearing. I'll try to remove it but it's not easy. So it's a seal protecting from grease?
On the rear axle I found grease, is it better to put there antiseize or lithium grease?

People GT 300i / Rear fork oil seal?

Hi guys :) I'm doing some maintenance to my beloved People Gti. I didn't know there was an oil seal on the rear part of the rear fork. I don't understand: does it seal from transmission oil? It works only in case of leaks or it's a fundamental part and it's better to replace it anyway? To me seems a dust seal more probably. Can you help me? Thank you very much ;)

Thank you guys  :). Years ago my Kymco dealer told me it's a common issue on People Gti and that they jerk and they replace them very often. Don't know if it's true. I'll give a try sanding. Anyway I think I'm under the 4 mm of the service manual. I'll see if it improves sanding. Thanks again
