Xciting 500 / Speedometer problem
« on: September 18, 2011, 02:25:15 AM »
Bike has been sitting awhile (several months).  Took it out for a spin and the Speedo doesn't move.  Everything else is fine.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

chas

PS:  It's an 08 carbed x500.  It's for sale btw, 4k, Givi topbox, as new, 2800.00.

Xciting 500 / Re: A ride I went on

I average 41.9 in combined driving on my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid.  It carries 5 adults in air-conditioned comfort and it's 2500 cc engine produces 156 hp.  Just a reality check for those who buy them (Maxi-scooters) for their fuel economy  :o.  To their credit, they ARE a lot more fun (in fair weather).  That would leave me to believe that scooter engineering is rather primitive compared to the automotive industry, especially when you consider that they are considerably more expensive on a pound for pound basis.  Still, I love my Xciting 500.  Gives me an opportunity to again share rides with my motorcycle nut son since my hip-replacement surgery.  Fun DOES come at a price  :P.  FWIW, the average single engine airplane is still flying around with 50 yr. old engine technology.  Economy of scale at work, I guess.

Xciting 500 / Unbelievable Service
« on: September 17, 2010, 06:11:03 PM »
Since I've never gotten service like this, I thought I'd give the company a plug.  After scouring the net for the lowest price, I ordered a tall Givi windshield (D293ST) from Premier Cycle Accessories for $142.20.  It arrived, perfectly boxed in Givi's original packaging, THE NEXT DAY.  Oh, did I mention, FREE SHIPPING (UPS ground).  True, it only came from NC to GA, but to get the order processed and out the door in time to get it to me THE NEXT DAY, I thought was outstanding.  Gotta be a new world record for 'net shopping. Thought I'd pass it on.

Xciting 500 / New member, old lurker

Hi, just got on the Kymco bandwagon by purchasing a nice very low mileage '08 Xciting 500.  I had purchased a Lance duke 250 about two weeks ago and decided after about 30 miles that at 6'4" and 205lbs, the 250 wasn't going to cut it.  I also quickly developed some concerns about build quality and  reliablility.  I immediately replaced the stock windshield on the Kymco with a tall Givi.  This has certainly changed the character of the bike (for the better......I think).  It came with the Givi top box.  I still have the Duke which will be going up on craigslist with <100 miles.  I also have a cherry '85 Honda Elite which I used to carry on the back of my motorhome years ago.  25 years old and still looks and runs like new. I just keep it around for sentimental reasons.  Also have a Triumph Triple (1050cc) but hip replacement makes it too difficult to ride.  Would love to meet any maxiscooterist in the northwestern Atlanta suburbs. Seems like a lot of good information on this board. Happy I found it. I'm going through old posts looking for general info. Looking forward to many (s)miles on the x500 (until the 700i becomes available  :).
