Yager GT 200i / Re: yeager valve adjust
« on: April 06, 2011, 12:13:51 PM »
I explored the area under the seat, taking off the front cover as Ike said, and it looks like it shouldn't be too difficult to adjust the valves, using his instructions for that also. The last time I adjusted valves was in 1972 on a Toyota truck!  I have the feeler gauges, tools, and a pretty good skill level for a shadetree mechanic.

Now I really wouldn't trust the mechanic who said you had to pull the engine. He said Vespa's don't even get checked until 12K. I checked and he was correct on some models.

I am curious, besides Iker, has anyone else adjusted their own or had a shop do it? How were they at the particular mileage? Cost for a COMPETENT dealership to do it?

Yager GT 200i / Re: Torque wrench?

As someone who learned the hard way almost 30 years ago (after breaking 2 oil cap studs on a new '82 Suzuki 650), I have 2 torque wrenches for working on my bikes. Both are Craftsman click types in FP and Inch lbs. Trust the clicks when they happen and all is well. I do almost all maintenance on my bikes (5) and have never stripped a bolt since. They are probably around $65 each at your Sears store.

I really like my Yager. I have about 400 miles on it, with Givi trunk/fitment rack. Lots of room for groceries and the cages will be parked for most of the 8 miles to town this summer. Tons of underseat storage and with the trunk, seven grocery bags are no problem. I have other bikes but this one is the best for commuter, errands, etc. Very smooth, economical and fun to ride. Just wish I didn't have to go at least 100 miles for a decent dealership.

This photo is of our Yager at a Patriot Guard Riders function at a race for Georgia's Fallen Heroes. We camped out nearby and put her on the back of our RV, then drove to the event. I usually show up on a Harley so I took some good natured grief!

Here is one of many links for the Ultraflate. I've used it and recommend it. They are available at several different online places. Google Ultraflate tire device. Aerostich is a well known riding gear shop.

Yeah, I was referring to the pump or co2 for inflating on the road after a puncture.

I'm familiar with co2 systems because I keep one on my bicycle when I go riding.  Wonderful thing to have.  I just wonder how much co2 I'd need to keep in order to inflate a scooter tire.

One cartridge should be enough to get you going, maybe 20 psi, but carry several if you can. If the plug doesn't hold the first time or leaks, you might need more. I carry 4 or 5. With that ultraflate you can use threaded or non threaded cartridges. They aren't too expensive and readily available.

Just checked Bartow Powersports and they only advertise Yamaha, Suzuki, Arctic Cat, and Kawasaki. If they are a Kymco dealer they need to show Kymco some love!

Saw this thread and info after I posted one about finding Twist n Scoot online. It would be nice if we had stable scooter stores in the Atlanta area.

General Discussion / New dealership in Atlanta area?
« on: February 08, 2011, 12:05:36 PM »
I just saw this ad for a scooter shop in Atlanta while browsing the Kymco website. Have never been there, but it might help some of you in the Atlanta area. Anyone know if this is a new business or a renamed one that has been out of business and reborn?

I put Seafoam in all my gas things as a stabilizer cleaner, even chain saws, generator, all bikes that are sitting a while, etc.

When my '07 Silverado went into the shop for an 02 sensor, the Chevy dealership tech put a can of Seafoam into it just to make sure the injectors were clean. He said they recommend it and use it in the shop a lot. The nice thing was that I wasn't charged for it. Its about $8 around here at Walmart.

I always carry a plug kit, even an auto kit would work for a temporary fix to get you off the road. I have an "Ultraflate" device that I won as a door prize at a rally. I think they sell for around $20. You put a standard co2 cartridge inside and it has a lever that you squeeze to let air into your tires after you screw the nozzle on your valve stem. There are similar devices out there. BMW make a neat little repair kit that they used to include in the bike when you bought one. It has a little white adaptor that you screw onto your valve stem, then screw a co2 cartridge into it. I've used them both and they will work on most small holes in your tubeless tires. Carry lots of plugs and refresh your cement if it gets old. A can of fix a flat or slime can also be used to inflate your tires even if you plug them.

Geez Rianna, sorry to hear about those problems with the water. Hopefully they'll get it fixed today ? Try to get out somewhere to take a vacation when you can, its good for the mind and body! With all this lousy weather all over, there are going to be a lot of people with cabin fever....and it could cause a baby boom.....not to mention dead batteries (on the scoots). Keep those batteries charged!!!
