Guessing the 2018 ,2019 models of the 300 are now the X-Town ? Did it change in 2017 from DT to XT ?

I have looked online at the  Kymco 300 DT service manual( same as 200 DT). The oil spec can be a large variety depending on outside temp. It gets hot where I live (104F) , but not sure I need to run the 20-50w stuff. I plan on using a full synthetic oil. The lowest winter temp here is maybe 38F I’m guessing many 300DT owners just use a quality 5-40 or 10-40 weight oil. What are you guys using? I still have a case of full syn Vespa oil (5-40). I sure would like to be able to use it.

Downtown 300 / Looking to buy a DT300, changes is yr models ?
« on: August 07, 2019, 03:12:14 AM »
Not new to Kymco, had a People 250 I sold a few yrs ago. In the market for a clean used DT300 or maybe a new one. Not much to choose here in south Texas ( except the guy in Houston), had I checked a month ago-I would have bought his!. Any way I’m looking for FI model only, what changes have been made ( if any) on the DT 300 since it came out. Thanks for any replies.

It is funny isn't it. Here is my experiance. Ride my Victory-some Harley riders wave, when I had my Gold Wing- other wingers and most all touring types waved, when I rode my DRZ-no body waved, when I rode my military sidecar rig-everybody waved. when I ride one of my scooters- a few touring, sportbike, and a few crusiers wave. Some times when I wave at a harley rider, and they don't wave back -I give them the bird!-that really suprises them. I don't do this in the presence of other traffic-as I don't want other car drivers to get the Idea that scooter riders are a bad influence.

Your right as far as cleaning up a carb internally,I have used it when a carb is starting to close up the jets some, I have not tried it for long term storage. I do know the Stabil works for that purpose.

People 250 / Battery Charger FYI
« on: July 29, 2010, 11:13:26 PM »
The battery in the people 250S is supposed to be a Maint. free battery-glass mat or Gel battery. Because of this anything smaller than a 1amp battery charger maynot bring it up to full 100% then float. I have a 1-1/4 amp battery tender that will charge up my scooter and motorcycle batteries in 4-8hrs depending. I have a 3/4 amp Battery tender JR that will only bring up the regular lead/acid conventional batteries up 100%. It never will bring up the higher performance batteries.I hope this saves somone some money. The Batery Tender 1-1/4 amp model costs me about $48.00 at Cycle gear. The Battery tender 3/4 amp charger costs me $ 35.00 at a bike shop.

People 250 / Stabil gas stabilizer
« on: July 29, 2010, 11:02:32 PM »
Reciently I have had to let my P 250S set up a while. Some time back it sat just a little too long without running it. The carb jets are very small for the low speed running jet-so it will clog pretty easily. I know better and I should have used some gas stabilizer ( like I almost always do). Any way I have had one of my motorcycles set for over a year without running-install battery, crank-VROOM!. this is where the stabilizer really pays for itself. I mix it a little richer than it says. Sure works good. So if you THINK your scoot may sit for more than a few weeks-best add some and you can rest easier-unless you just like to pull and clean carbs. Hope this saves someone some trouble.

They all are dry untill you or the shop/store adds the acid and then seal it up( and it is supposed to be charged before using). These batteries are dry charged from the factory. Otherwise they would have to charge up once a month if sold wet (like car batteries are SUPPOSED to be done). The car batteries have an easy system to tell how long they have been on the shelf-like a month and date tag on them. Motor cycles have a different system. I just found out how Yuasa (Tawain and Japan) batteries are coded. example= 930312   year= 93  month=03 (march)   12=12th 1 factory code. I still have not figured out Everstart M/C batteries.

There is a very good one in San Antonio Texas. "The Motorcycle Shop" . Been there a long time.Used to be a motorcycle shop only, then started selling and servicing scooters about 8 years ago or longer. Now thats their main business. Great bunch of guys. I am not affiliated with them.

Since my P-250 is a 2008, and I don't want to chance having the battery crap out, I decided to put it in my Four wheeler and buy a new one for my scooter. I found the right one at Wally world. Glass mat type, etc. Well I guess it was on the shelf for a long while-It still doesn't charge as fast my old one. The battery is exactly the same OEM as the origional. A fresh (6 mo old or less from time of manufacture to purchase time) battery is best and will give you the longest life. I have got 2-3 years if I keep it on a Battery Tender (1-1/4 amp model). An interseting note is that my Battery tender Jr (3/4 amp) will never bring it up to 100 %-but the 1-1/4 amp will every time. So if you have a smaller amp smart charger, and you purchase a battery that has been on the shelf 2 yrs it will be harder to charge, dissipate sooner and go bad sooner too. I have had this same thing happen 3 times on batteries over the past many many years. I am trying to figue out the battery manufactures build dates / codes and will pass on the information. Maybe I should just take my meter in the store and check dry cell voltage before I buy!. Sorry for being long winded.

Glad to be back. We set up a production plant in Asia. Lots of teething problems.Too much work/not enough people. It's like going wide open with your hair on fire!. I will try to find the belts from Dayco and Gates. I know I looked at their sites/products when I first bought my P-250, but wasn't interested in buying when mine was new. I buy a lot of power transmission parts (brgs, timing belts,"v" belts, poly chains, chains, gears, etc., so I get to see lots of alternative and new stuff . Stuff anyone can purchase from the Bearing companies, all you need is a part #. I will do some homework.

Technical | How To / Re: Diesel oil for a scooter?
« on: July 26, 2010, 03:14:05 AM »
Amsoil full synthetic. Since these scooters use so little to begin with any helpthese motors get will extend their life. Some bike shops carry it, otherwise just order online. I am not affiliated with Amsoil. I use their oil in my motorcyles and scooters. The Tacoma gets Castrol syntec.
