Took it back to the dealer and his mechanic said he managed to tighten up a couple of bolts a LITTLE but on the whole its 100% solid and as new (as expected). It is a LITTLE better..

I did notice that it doesnt ALWAYS vibrate. If i lets say go full throttle from the lights, the vibration sort of comes and goes with a rhythm and if i hit a bump it makes it worse for a half a second.. i think that basically there is nothing wrong and as im used to tiny 125cc single or 1200cc inline fours, this vibration is to be expected from a 320cc single running though a massive rubber band! This is first and only "big" scooter i have ridden, or "bigish" single cylinder. all my other 250cc+ bikes were twin or 4 cyl. I didnt ride a 300i yet, when the dealer gets some more stock of 300/350 i will go and try one :)

Its a bit like a guitar, when u strum it the whole thing vibrates and if u get the right note to match the resonance of the wood, it vibrates a lot more. I think then that the belt, which is thick and pretty hefty lump of rubber, is simply vibrating as normal and when i hit the natural resonance of the belt or a bump knocks it, it simple transmits more vibes to the rest of the bike.

The vibes are a high frequency not like a jackhammer so its not THAT bad at all really, im just being picky :) ... They call big singles "thumpers" for a reason i suppose :)

The actual scooter is awesome though, i can get from 0 to very illegal speeds in seconds and apart from looking amazing its sooooo comfy. I guess the 300 is quite similar (i never tried one).
I swapped a 125 super 8 and a Suzuki bandit 1200 to get this 350i. The 125 was too slow, and the bandit was too fast for this little island i live on (Malta) .. there is no roads here for a 1200cc monster and it just did burnouts everywhere. The 350 is pretty much the perfect balance of scooter nimbleness, and big bike power. It has MPG computer and other awesome gadgets, LCD Display and ABS and the list goes on. Im sure you 300cc owners got the same feeling when u got yours. If you are going to buy one and are thinking about it... stop thinking and get one! amazing scoot!

Hi all.

Couldn't find the 350 area so posted in here.

I have a vibration from my scoot when at WOT.. if i roll on the throttle gently or leave it idle its smooth as butter. But when i go to overtake for example and give it a fist full it vibes a lot. I know its a bit different to the 300cc but does your scooters have the same sort of thing?

The other thing i noticed is that if you stand behind the scoot and wobble it left to right, there is a definite "clunk-clunk" sound coming from the motor mounts. Again i dont know if this is normal. The 125cc super 8 i had never had these things, but the 350 is a massive beast compared to that thing lol.

Pic ... as we all love pics!

Thanks!!

Sorry to hear of your fall, and good that your ok and bike is not so bad... i know hindsight is great thing, but in that situation i would of just used the rear brake and kept the bike as verticle and straight as possible, i know it would of ment maybe (probably) hitting the cyclist but chances are your momentum would of kept u upright and then you could of pulled over, and he was at fault (sorry is not going to help if you had been hit by the car!).. like you said, there were cars following you, and say the car driver was changing radio station or something and didnt see you fall to stop in time, it sounds selfish/irrisponsible, but we bikers gotta look after number 1 and hitting a cyclist will hurt less than being run over by a car, this is from experience.. same applies if an animal runs out in front of you, best is not to brake to hard as the speed will keep u upright. there are many vids on youtube etc of sports bikes hitting large animals and their speed kept them upright.

At the end of the day tho everyone is ok and thats the main thing. Sorry for my little rant but angers me to see a fellow rider go down hard through no fault of his own!!

Ride safe all

Super 8 150 / Exhaust for a Super 8 125cc
« on: November 16, 2011, 07:27:46 PM »
Hi all,

I am pretty sure the 125 and the 150 share exhausts, so can anyone tell me a good aftermarket exhaust? im after the sound more than bhp as it helps cars hear me coming and sounds nice. I found plenty of generic GY6 exhausts, but was told to be careful as they may not fit.

So has anyone of you good people got a link to a site to an exhaust that will fit??

Many thanks in advance!

Hi all!!

I have a Super8 125cc, but there is no section for it, seeing as its a motor question i have i thought this section would be more suitable, admins please move if u see fit :)..

My question is a simple one... I know I have a GY6 motor in my scoot, but which variant? and also will anything from these GY6 performance websites fit (exhausts in specific).. i cant believe how many parts there are for this scooter if this is true!!

Many Thanks!!!

A mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a Harley, when he spotted a world-famous heart surgeon in his shop. The heart surgeon was waiting for the service manager to come take a look at his bike.

The mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey Doc can I ask you a question?" The famous surgeon, a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic working on the motorcycle.

The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I also can open it up, take valves out, fix'em, put in new parts and when I finish this will work just like a new one. So how come I get a pittance and you get the really big money, when you and I are doing basically the same work?"

The surgeon paused, smiled and leaned over, and whispered to the mechanic, "Try doing it while it's running."

Hi

I have a super 8 125cc . I get about 91UK MPG, not sure in USA gallons. on level ground (ie not uphil) it can hold 50mph easily, plus a bit for overtaking. but uphill 50 will be the max. maintenence seems pretty easy on it, lots of access holes and panels. i have done 1300km in a month on mine and its great!.. bear in mind i have a 125cc, so the 150cc should be a bit better on speed, maybe a bit worse on mpg. :)

Super 8 150 / Re: Front brake feels odd!!
« on: November 15, 2010, 11:50:24 AM »
Hi all,

Sorry i didnt reply earlier.. I checked pressures and they were fine. I sort of got used to it now, and i think Agent Bob is describing EXACTLY what i got. Im happy that he mentioned this cause i know im not the only one and its a common thing that i shouldnt worry about. I think with better quality pads it would be better as i think the rotor is pretty good (wavy and drilled).

Im gonna leave it as is and put it down as a part of this bikes character :)

Thanks for all the followups everyone!

Thanks for the help all.. I think i will start with tyre pressures, although i dont think this is the cause, it might help to soften the effect.

Im pretty sure its not a bent axle, during normal riding the bike is smooth as silk. even on hard front braking its pretty smooth, its when im just touching the brake a little bit.. im kinda used to it now, but i will continue to check odd things here and there, plus if anyone has any other ideas.

thanks!

I found my stock lights very good indeed on the super 8, if its second hand maybe the previous owner put cheaper or lower powered bulbs in? also make sure the alignment is correct as this will have an effect on how bright they "seem". i usually set it to aim just above a  licence plate of a car about 2/3 meters away, this way u dont blind people but u light up whats in front pretty well.

I still have stock bulbs so cant help with the idea you have, sorry.

Hi.. its got 700km on them from brand new. this happened before it ever saw the rain, and rain doesnt seem to make it any better/worse. i dont think its a warped rotor cause the brake lever is smooth and not pulsing as you would feel on a warped rotor. i guess its a characteristic of these bikes :S
