Xciting 500 / axle nut
« on: May 29, 2015, 12:46:26 AM »
Does any one know the axle nut size, for removal. Thought it was a 24mm socket...but it was wrong size.

Had a flat tire...closest dealer 20-25miles away.

Xciting 500 / water pump leaking
« on: April 29, 2014, 12:56:11 AM »
Rode 2009 X500, still LOVE it. :). Noticed coolant drops on garage floor, found weep hole leaking...
Ordered pump from local dealer, 3 days later it arrived and I installed it in less than 1hr. 8)
Put "ENGINE ICE" in cooling system...didn't notice any REAL change in engine temp. gauge still reads 1/2 mark...
should I be concerned?  Thought about looking into the 700...WIFE WOULD KILL ME!!!! Happy WIFE, Happy LIFE  ;)

Glad to be back...Bike rides good!!!

Sorry for the delay.
I ordered them thru Red Ember cycles, out of Daytona, Fl.

3 screws secure them to the black plastic behind d the faring, very easy

Cost approx. $59.00. I believe it was worth it.

Merry Christmas  :)

I installed them on my 2009 X500, it does help cut down on the wind hitting your legs...
I thought about painting them to match to exterior(white).

I'm glad I bought them.   :D

Looks like...what we call in the automotive field "dry-rot"
Look for the DOT number. Assuming the DOT is similar to car it will tell the date the tire was made.
No matter what it is UNSAFE. Replace ASAP.  :-)

Syl, I like the small bags...Who makes them. I have a pair of cyclegear saddle bags. They damaged the fairing so i took them off and put "red" pinstripe on to cover up the damage...Doesn't look bad. will post pics soon :)

I took my 2009 x-500 to Bike week in Daytona, Fl.
I felt fine with the Harley Riders and they with me...the sport bikers were making comments...like I didn't belong.
Harley Riders said I did that's all the mattered.

Xciting 500 / Re: Fuel guage
« on: August 03, 2012, 01:22:13 AM »
I agree my fuel gauge isn't accurate either...fuel light comes on right before the red line. I will ride for another 20miles before I get nervous and fill up. But when filling up I will add 2.5-2.7 gallons and it is full, up to the cap...So does the tank really hold 3.2 gallons???

« on: August 03, 2012, 01:16:16 AM »
Sorry to come late the party. This happened to me last summer...RUSH hour traffic, stalled 3 times...called local dealer...no help! Went to THIS forum site...asked for help...found to be bad gas. i put "STA-Bil" gas treatment after adding fresh fuel. it's been fine ever since. I add about 2oz. per fill-up. has added to my MPG.

I want to give a shout out to RED EMBER cycles in Daytona, Fl. excellent customer service...alot better than my local dealer in Orlando, Fl.
