Your Stigness!
I got used to shortys going across country many years ago and have loved them ever since.
This is only the second tall windshield I have ever owned.
I had one on an old Suzuki GS850G for a few years and liked it but switched to the lower chest protectors a long time ago once I gave up multi-day trips.
I have put the front tire in all 3 oceans when I was young and foolish.  :)

No need for any deflector around town but anything over an hour in one direction at higher speeds and I find I need one.
I am up and down constantly between home and the farm and that's about an hour each way, all at 80+, so I caved after 2 years.

I am restoring a couple of older scooters at the moment and I will have screens on both of those, too.

de dee,
Nice to meet a local!
I am also in the OVSC but have yet to attend a ride.
I'm more of a "ride all the time, if you need a hand fixing things give me a buzz" type rather than an ice cream runner.
I do go to a meetup in Huntsville once a year for a tuning clinic for Yamaha XJ bikes.

FortNine has variators but not sure if they will fit your ride.
You'll have to check their website:
https://fortnine.ca/en/

See you on the roads!

Hi All,
Just ordered a windshield from FortNine.
I just went with their recommended one with the mounting bracket.

When it arrived, the box seemed large for a little chest protector wind deflector.
(BTW - 2 day delivery - bloody amazing!)

I opened her up and took out the mounting kit, read the installation instructions (I know, right?), modified their "how to" so the brackets would fit my scooter and finger tightened everything up to allow for small adjustments.
Went back to the box and....
Holy huge!
It's like a cop screen.

Okay
I figure if that's the recommended one, who am I to judge before trying it out.
Tightened her all up and did a quick walk around.
That is one big-ass windshield!

The proof is in the puttering so I hit the road.
It's wonderful.
Full coverage so only my back will get wet.
Slight drop in top end (92 KPH just before WOT down to 86 KPH just before WOT) but vast improvement in comfort at that speed.
Music is now audible.
The glare off the top rim of the headlight is now blocked.
Bugs be gone!

I am betting it will act as a sail in specific wind conditions but that's workable.

All things considered, an excellent choice by the vendor.

She's alive!!

Now that the most important piece of info is out of the way it's time for the back story.
Starting point - it felt electrical.
I checked everything I could think of:
Battery
Fuses
Connectors
Switches
No change.
Checked the spark plug - good
Fuel lines looked perfect.
Checked the spray pattern of the injector - perfect (Thank you Seafoam!)

Checked the air flow from start to finish - all clean and clear.

But it felt electrical.
Went back along the path and...
Kill switch is buggered.
Remove it completely, clean it up, add a little dielectric grease and Robert is your father's brother.
Everything is 100% normal again.

Thank you all for ideas and suggestions.
Using the hive mind always gets results.

Ask me about the huge-ass Givi windshield I just put on!

Thanks all for the quick replies.

In random order:
Seat & trunk off
All connectors I could find unplugged and reconnected after checking they were clean
All fuel lines checked - nice and snug, no leaks
I won't put WD40 in my switches but they are clean and secure - I will check each one for continuity
Air filter is clean and not clogged as is the air passage up to the intake
I will check the injector tomorrow.

Fuses checked.

Valves checked this spring (6 weeks ago)
Also new spark plug - put the old one back in to test, same results
It sits all winter after being winterized and then fluids and sparkplug changed in the spring.
Spark plug was snugged up tight (but not too tight) came out clean with a little soot.

I will continue to work at it tomorrow and will provide feedback.
Thanks again!

Hi all,
I am in Ottawa, ON, Canada
I have a 2013 Like 200i.
Up until now, she's been great.

Now, when I turn the key there is no CELP
When I turn the key I can hear the fuel pump.
I have never overfilled the tank.
It will only start at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) and once started, she lopes rather than runs.

Battery is 10/10.
Fuel seems perfect.
I have flipped the kill switch back and forth in case it was a partial connection.

I will be removing the sparkplug later today and will update.

Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions will be gladly reveived.

LIKE 200i / New to me Like 200i - an update
« on: July 31, 2019, 06:12:05 PM »
I have had a few minor glitches with the 200i but overall, it's a sweet ride.
I just passed the 10k km mark on the new (to me) Like 200i.
You cannot lean into corners or you scrape the center stand. :o
Oil change, spark plug change and valve adjustment were all super easy. Exhaust valve was very tight.
Wonderfully comfortable around town. Lots of get up and go.
Harsh ride over bad roads. Pot holes, cracks, manhole covers....
Gas mileage seems fair. Still working it out.
Top speed seems to be about 90 kms.
Speedometer is remarkably accurate when checked with a GPS.
Don't fill the gas tank beyond the metal bar or it will dribble on the side stand.
The space under the seat gets mighty hot! Has anyone tried using it to cook while on longer trips?

Things to come:
I could only source a regular spark plug. I will put in an iridium as soon as I find one.
I will "hard Seafoam" the fuel system.
Air filter needs checking but it sounds okay.

So far, so good,

LIKE 200i / Re: Needing help with charging issues
« on: July 31, 2019, 05:59:02 PM »
Hi ABSDOT,
I am a newbie to the Like 200i as well but I have fiddled with machines and bikes in particular for a while.
I would suggest the following:
1) always charge your battery rather than boosting it to start the bike. The strain on the alternator to completely charge a flat battery is huge.
2) whenever you have electrical issues, remove the battery and charge it over night. Put it back in and see if the problem is gone. Often, a bad connection (usually a ground) is causing the issue.
3) any time you have really odd gremlins in the electrical system, look at the battery itself and any fuses in the circuit first.

Best of luck!

Technical | How To / Re: Rear wheel wobble
« on: July 11, 2019, 02:45:04 AM »
My Agility 125 does’nt have a wobble at the rear wheel, but also have a slight play on between the rim- and shaft splines. When I move the wheel backwards and forwards I can hear a slight clacking sound, but there is no up and down or sideways movement.
I have no idea what the torque setting is suppose to be, but to my mind 120 NM is a complete “overkill” on an application like this. There is no way how the nut will come loose with a much lower NM setting. I think the manufacturer should rather have made a better effort to make the splines on the rim and shaft fit properly.
Howdy, ScooterFan.

Yes, 120 NM is massive overload but I looked at the parts and they will support it. Nice chunky bits in there...
Those sloppy tolerances on the splines at least means the wheel will come off one night in the pouring rain half way between Nowhere and downtown ImLostAgain. :)

LIKE 200i / Re: Kymco parts in Canada - best place to order them?
« on: July 11, 2019, 02:34:45 AM »
Many thanks, BB!
I will try the Toronto store tomorrow.
The Ebay one looks great but the delivery time is a minimum of 10 business days (2 weeks) with a max of 24 (5 weeks!) so I will have to pass on that one.

Much appreciated.

Hey Hundacobra
Where are you located?
I am in Ottawa and I am new to scooters but very old to motorbikes.
If you are in range I am willing to come over and have a beer and watch you get frustrated.  ;)

LIKE 200i / Kymco parts in Canada - best place to order them?
« on: July 10, 2019, 07:53:51 PM »
I am finishing up the work to get the new (to me) 2013 Kymco Like 200i ready for it's safety check here in Ontario.
I need a replacement LHS (Left Hand Side) brake lever as the one I have was snapped off breaking the ball off the end.
I was hoping to be able to smooth the sharp end but it will be too pointy to be legal.
It needs to be replaced for the safety.

Where is the best place to order Kymco (or aftermarket) spares in Canada?
Is there a parts dealer who supports this site I can patronize?

Technical | How To / Re: Rear wheel wobble
« on: July 10, 2019, 06:31:44 PM »
After examining the parts I came to the conclusion that the last person to tighten the wheel did not do so fully.
I cleaned and greased everything then assembled and torqued the wheel nut to the correct value (120 N-M!) by having a person stand on the bike as I tightened it.
It felt right so I reassembled the rest of the bike.
Everything seems fine after a test run of about 10kms.

I have a new to me Like 200i with just under 10K on her.
I went to get the safety done and there is significant play in the rear wheel.
With the everything removed except the wheel itself there is still play between the wheel the splined shaft.

Any advice or ideas welcome.

So far it is working fine after re-tightening all the wiring.
Will let you know if there is a recurrence.
