Does anyone do their own work that can tell me where I can find the tools to change the belt, rollers and clutch springs?

Grandvista 250 / Re: Tire recommendations for GV?

I drive about the same distance 5 days a week to work down in south Florida. I purchased the Michelin pilot sport and had it mounted at the end of July. I need a new tire and got about 3000-4500 miles out of it. I was referred to a higher mileage tire made by Hidenau which I just purchased from www.moto-amore.com.  Cost with shipping was $90.00. I am told it is a harder rubber and I should get around 10k miles out of it.  I bout the K61 which isn't necessarily the best for rain as it doesn't have deep tread pattern on it but that doesnt matter down here as it is dry in the winter. They make a tire K58 I think that has a deep tread which is much better for wet weather.  I will know more in 6 months.  Good luck

Grandvista 250 / Tools for GrandVista 250
« on: November 22, 2011, 04:08:18 AM »
Does anyone know where I can buy the special tools needed to change the belt and the spring tool for the clutch?  I am trying to save some money and do the work myself changing the rollers and my bike has started creeping recently and the handbook says that is from a broken clutch spring.

I was told from my dealer that riding the GV 250 at 65mph for more than 15 - 20 minutes is very stressful and not good for that motor. Yet I have read that many people take theirs on the highways.  I recently cracked a piston and had major service on my bike and want it to last a long time.  Any one have any comments on this topic would be greatly appreciated. I am riding a 2006 with about 4500 miles.

Update - First shop replaced the plug and it still wouldn't start, cleaned the carb nothing. Replaced the CDI and it started but quit after a few minutes.  They thought the timing might be off. Sent it to their other shop. Where they said the compression was weak only 55lbs???  Ended up having to take the engine apart.  It has been three weeks now.  They just told me today that they found a cracked piston head. Part is on order and have to wait another week for them to get the part and put it in and test to see if it holds compression.  Sigh....

Thanks for all the help. I will still be bringing it in to have the dealer look it over and I will probably have them adjust the valves also if needed.  Right now about 4300 miles on it.

Thats it. Now off to find it.  Any idea what the oil in the air filter box could be from?

Any suggestions on what type of spark plug.  Is it one I can pick up at an autozone?  What is the correct gap depth?

it is 250 4 stroke.  I am pretty handy but not confident enough to mess with the valves and not sure about the choke.  I didn't want to take the bike apart and not be able to get it back together so I only tried to do the maintenance that seemed easiest.  Thanks for the suggestions.

If anyone has advice please help.  I recently bought a 2006 with 2300 miles on it down in Florida.  The person that I bought it from said it was sitting for a while and wouldn't start but she took it to her local shop where they serviced it and it was running fine.  When cold the bike had issues stalling unless I would give it gas and let off and on the gas for a little bit revving it up.  I called the dealer that serviced it and he said the bike just needed to be ridden.  Well I have put about 1500 miles on it and it was running fine but still had the same issue.  I downloaded the manual to change out the oil which I had and put in the 15w 40 that it suggests.  I haven't changed out the gear oil as I haven't been able to find the SAE90 but have since through reading the forums found that I can use other weights 75w 90 or another similar.  When checking the air filter I had noticed that there was oil not in the filter but in the box around it and in the intake behind the filter.  I don't think that is a good thing by the way.  I cleaned it up with a rag and closed it all up.  Bike was running fine but still had the starting issue.  This evening on my way home I got about a mile and it stalled at a light and will not start.  I plan on taking it to a shop to look at but if there might be something that you all can suggest that I look at to see if I can get it running to avoid having to rent a trailer, your advice would be greatly appreciated.
