The DMV accepted the VIN # on the sticker applied to the lower right side.

Grandvista 250 / VIN # stamped on frame?
« on: March 30, 2013, 05:54:39 PM »
Hi everyone,
I bought a 2008 Grandvista in bad shape from a used car dealer in another state. It has a title.
After going over the scooter, (taking off every panel), and putting hours of work into it,
I eventually discovered that there was no VIN number plate.
The used car dealer, (about 300 miles away), is now playing dumb.

If you take off the little cowl cover there are two rivets but no plate.
On other scooters that we have, the number is just stamped on the frame.

When I bought it, I only compared the title and the VIN number/model number sticker on the scooter's lower right side.
They matched.

Now someone from another state wants to buy it from me but if it has no VIN, he won't be able to register it.

My questions are:
Is there supposed to be a dog tag type plate with a VIN on Kymco scooters?
Is there any other place that the number is stamped on the frame so maybe the DMV officials can compare it to the title.

Thank you guys.

For Sale / WANTED: Seat for Grand Vista
« on: December 02, 2011, 11:04:58 PM »
Hi folks,
I'm still looking for a used seat for a 2009 Grand Vista.

If you replaced your stock seat with the sport seat, I'm interested in your old one.
If you bought the sport seat and you find that you prefer the original, I'm interested in the sport seat.

Even if your seat is damaged, I'm interested.

Thank you for your time.

Regards, Gary aka Perkussion

Hi Folks,
  Hi everyone,
I was lucky enough to see a Craigslist ad for a 2009 Grandvista for an excellent price.
It had been stolen and because the dumbass crooks didn't have a key they destroyed several things:
The latch that was attached to the underside of the seat is gone -broken clean off.
The gas filler cap has a big gouge in it when they tried to pry it open -they also broke off the ring that goes around it.
They also dropped it because the left side mirror is broken and the crankcase cover has several cracks and small pieces missing.
The center hook is also missing for some reason. Various scrape marks throughout -some pretty deep.

Going over it carefully I noticed that the crooks must've had it partially taken apart and then tried to put it back together.
There are several non-matching screws and several places where there were no screws at all.

Above is a post from last Winter placed in the 'for sale' section

I have fixed several things on this scoot, replaced panels, put 14 bolts back in various places (!!!) and it looks/rides pretty good now.

However, I still need a seat or the latch that is attached to the underside of the seat that holds & locks it down.
If anyone wants to sell their old GV seat because they have replaced it with the touring seat please let me know.
I would prefer someone close to the pan handle of Florida because shipping on a seat would be really expensive due to it's size.

Regardless, please let me know.

If you know you are never going to use the original seat again, I would even pay a decent amount for just the latch.

Thanks

Grandvista 250 / Re: Tubed tires?
« on: December 30, 2010, 03:16:23 PM »
Thanks Urbestfriend,
The reason I was asking is that a few weekends ago I was riding a Genuine International 150 at top speed, (67 mph on gps),
when the back (tubed) tire blew out.
Like your experience, the back end of the scooter began to sway violently side to side.
It was frightening and uncontrollable but luckily I was on a straight section of road and I remembered to avoid using the brakes
as long as I could.
If my Grand Vista has tubes I want to change them out because I never want to go through that again.
Your reasoning about a grommet around the stem makes sense and I believe you're right.

Has anyone else changed tires on a Grand Vista and knows for a fact whether it has tubes or not?
Thanks.

Grandvista 250 / Tubed tires?

Hi all,
I was wondering if the tires on a 2008 or 2009 Grand Vista have tubes in them.
Thank you.

My standard seat was broken into and the latch on the underside was broken off and is gone.
Would you consider selling the regular seat or the latch?
Thanks

For Sale / Re: Various Grandvista parts needed
« on: December 28, 2010, 09:48:30 PM »
Thank you for welcoming me Rianna.
I am hoping to get parts from a salvaged Grand Vista if possible.

We had a Cobra Cross for a few months -back when my wife was checking out the 'scooter thing'.
I needed a center stand spring so I shopped online @ a Kymco parts site that has 'numbers' in it's title.
The spring cost less than $2 but the shipping was over $15 !!! I won't be shopping there anymore.

If I have no luck finding parts here, I'll probably see what a local dealer would charge for some of the pieces.

I know some people around here have upgraded to a different seat so I was hoping someone would want to
sell the old one or sell the latch off it.

Even though the police recovered it, the original owner wanted nothing to do with it after he saw the condition it was now in.
With only 592 miles on it I think it is worth fixing.

If anyone has any of the parts described above please respond.
Thanks
