What was Kymco thinking?  A scooter with little to no room under the seat.  I would second the opinion that I would not buy it just because of that.

Okay,

It's been a while since I asked this question and I have come up with a solution that works for me.  I purchased a mounting bracket from Shad "K0GD20ST" and the I purchased an all white topcase from Mutazu ($115 plus shipping and handling).

The case is not as big as I expected and I would be pretty disappointed if it weren't for the fact that my helmet fits fine under the seat. Anyway it looks pretty good.  The case goes on pretty well with a couple of additional holes drilled in the mounting bracket.

This is the overall look:

The only reason I would caution against using your own bike, is that fact that you might drop it during while doing the course.  If you use the bikes supplied by the school then if you drop it then it's no big deal.  The bikes that they have probably have been dropped numerous times.  I would not want to drop my own bike.

That being said...when I took the course in Calif they actually had a 50cc ruckus that they allowed me to use.

Mdc,

It really is very dependent on how you ride.  I own a 2009 GV and when I make a lot of very short trips and in the 25MPH range then the MPG suffers, but if I ride it for longer trips in the 45MPH range then the MPG goes up considerably.  The best I've gotten so far is 53MPG with about a fifty fifty mix of short and longer trips.  Also keep in mind that my bike only has about 400 miles on it so far.

Congratulations on your new ride.  I have an '09 White GV and I couldn't be more pleased with it.  Of course you know that white is the faster color :)

Grandvista 250 / topcase?
« on: March 29, 2011, 08:24:36 PM »
As a fairly new owner of a 2009 GV, I'm wondering how a topcase is mounted on this scoot.  If I look at the rack on the back it doesn't seem to make a 90 degree between the rack and the backrest.  Is there a special adaptor plate that has to go on in order to mount a Givi or Shad case to this?

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Scootit,

Yes, my new Grand Vista is in my garage.  It is night and day different from riding my 150cc Chinese bike.  My only dislike is the somewhat hard seat

I'm down in San Jose so you probably won't see me around the Bridge.  If you're down in my neck of the woods drop me a line and maybe we can get together.

Hands Free required when driving in California, but you wouldn't really know there was a law against it judging by how many I see every day talking on the phone while driving.

The new scoot will be a White 2009.
I'm located in Northern Calif.

I went and sat on a Grand Vista again over the week and it turns out the distance between the seat and handlebars isn't a problem after all.  Everything on the Grand Vista seems to fit me well.

So...after many moons of looking at many different models and narrowing the field down...I put a deposit on a Grand Vista today at my local dealership (none is stock had to be ordered).  The new scoot should be here by Tues next week.

Yes, I did read the other thread.  I seemed to be more about modifying the seat rather than how the touring seat is different from the stock seat.  I would like about 1-2" farther back and maybe 1/2-1" higher.  I can flat foot (with room to spare), but due to a handicap that I have I also have to be concerned with the seat to floorboard height.  If the seat to floorboard height is too small then I have a hard time getting my feet up and down.  I will sit on one in the riding position (stock seat) over the weekend.

Grandvista 250 / GV seating question
« on: February 02, 2011, 07:31:48 PM »
I know this topic has probably been covered before, but here goes anyway.

I'm considering the Grand Vista as an upgrade from my current Chinese 150cc scoot.  The only thing holding me back is that it feels a little bit tight between the seat and the handlebars on the GV.

I have heard that there is a "touring seat" for the GV.  Does this seat move the rider back at all and does it add much to the seat height.  I can flat foot the bike fine with the stock seat and I probably have little bit extra.

Just looking for opinions/information before I buy.
