Xciting 700i / Re: New News on the BIG one?
« on: July 19, 2011, 10:58:02 PM »
While surfing the web on scooter stuff came across an obscure article about the MyRoad700i. It said that the 700 didn't come out for 2010 due to the fact that Kymco sold the right to the 700cc motor to BMW and could not use it for the myroad. it goes onto saying that kymco had to design another motor for the scooter for 2011. So why would they screw themselves by selling the motor, which is probably in the BMW concept scooter. It also states that the release will be slow due to how expensive it is in some countries, which leads to me asking why sell the scoot in countries that can barely afford it and sell in the US last?

Technical | How To / Re: gv250 running issue
« on: July 18, 2011, 02:42:57 AM »
well i have an update. The scoot when cold now will run up to 3000rpm's, rear tire spins and then the idle will come down to base idle 2000rpm's. The issues that it will idle on its own and after it's at running temp it will stall and won't restart untill it cools down. Also while idling it will not throttle up it just bogs and stalls. performed compression test and its about 135 to 140 psi after five tests, compression for this engine is 15kg/cm +/- 2 (about 213 to 215 psi). Going to call my friend who works on motorcycles to confirm my results, but it looks like I'll be replacing the head and piston. For the price I'll probably upgrade to 300cc. Again thanks for all the input.

General Discussion / Re: new downtown 300i or xciting 500ri?
« on: July 16, 2011, 10:54:21 AM »
I am 5' 6" tall and weigh about 220lb. I have just under a 31" inseam. I have sat on the 500 with it on the center stand and the front of my feet touch the ground. Just found out that my locale kymco dealer has both new downtown (burnt orange) and the xciting 500ir coming in.  Can't wait to do the test ride! ;D
About my burgman found that suzuki has a service bulliten on how to fix the issue but are not forth coming with it.going thru dealing with dealer and suzuki right now. suzuki don't want to pay for the upgrade saying it won't fix the issue and dealer is not willing to warrenty the work the just did 1000 miles ago(clutch is bad again). just at the point were no matter how much i like the scoot i have had enough of the drama that comes with it!. So kymco maxi scooters here i come.

Technical | How To / gv250 running issue
« on: July 15, 2011, 11:38:40 PM »
hello everyone and thank you for any info in advance. a couple of days ago i started my GV up in the morning to go to work ,walked inside to get phone came out and scoot stalled. Started back up but would not run when throttling. Found water in the fuel. removed gas tank, drained and cleaned out. replaced fuel filter cleaned out lines. replaced spark plug also. The scooter starts up and revs up at first and you can throttle it up but as it gets warm the idle stays at "1000" and if you try to throttle it bogs down and even "backfires/pop". Pulled out spark plug and looked at piston and can see alot of carbon. now the spark plug i changed the gap was at .024 not .036". Am I looking at possible damaged to engine when it tried to compress the water in the fuel or possibly the carb is the issue? I understand that am asking alot without seeing but just looking for a direction to go before trip to mechanic.  Again thanks for any input.

Hello everyone, have a question about picking up a new scoot. I own a 2007 GV250 which is awesome and a burgman 400. I'm looking into replacing the 400 due to constante clutch issue's. It's very hard to find any dealers that have either the 300 or 500 in stock let alone both  ???, so i figure i'd ask people here what there opinion's are on this subject. I will be riding this scooter 5 days a week rain or shine to work which is 12 miles each way thru town and on rt 63(up to 65mph at times). Some large and rolling hills, with some stop lights at these hills. any info would be helpful. contacted kymco yesterday asking if there was any of these scoots in the area that i could go and test drive also.
So again thanks for any input. ;D

Grandvista 250 / Re: 2005 Grandvista stalls out.

I am not sure how mechanically incline you are but the try taking the muffler off and leave the pipe on. start the scoot and see if it runs better. if not you could have possibly overheated the scoot. check your coolant and your oil for contamination.. (By the way i am an automotive tech). another possiblity could have to due with the fuel pump or the throttle cables. If you you think this might be to much for you to do i suggest bring it to a mechanic.  good luck! ;D

Grandvista 250 / Re: Riding Motion Impression on Grand Vista 250

Well the way i adjust the rear shocks is how the scoot "feels" when sitting on it and riding it. mine felt when riding would bottom out. the best way to adjust (just my opinion) is to sit on the scooter (off the center stand) and bounce the scooter. You will be able to feel how far it travels and when you just sit on it you notice how far it drops from your weight. The rear shocks are very easy to adjust, they have "steps" that adjust the spring height by applying a little downward pressure and turn, just make sure you do it with the exhuast cold.  By the way I weigh about 230lbs and have it set (from the highest step) at the third "step".  Hope this helps! ;D

I had the same issue with my GV and found that it was a combination of low rear tire pressure, incorrectly adjusted rear shock and mostly those crappy stock tires! I addressed all those issues and the scoot is a dream (especially with new rubber). By the way i ride everyday 24 miles back and forth to work and there is this stretch of the rode where i get up to 70mph. Have a great and safe ride. :)

hello everyone! This seems to be a really informative forum, found alot of interesting threads. Well I own a 2007 GV and so far I enjoy the ride, ( have been riding for a total of a month so far.) I bought this scooter used from a scooter dealer and i have only one complaint and that is the ride is "bumpy", I believe its due to the tires being chopped. I ride back and forth to work which is 12 miles each way . My question is what is a good replacement rear tire and how limited are my options?  I plan on riding this scooter alot through the summer to work and everywhere else. Again great forum and I hope to be able to contribute to it in the future.
