that sounds pretty nasty you definitely should get into your transmission and try to find someone with an impact wrench to take that nut off for you so you can check rollers, belt wear, your boss, ect and theres truly no real number for jet size every bike is different but you should be fine with an 85 jet just watch your plug good luck  :)

http://www.4secondsflat.com/plug_chart.html check out this chart it's pretty decent and "read" your plug if you're lean go higher in size, if you're rich go down in size, every scoot is different as is every build i wouldn't ride for hours at a time or anything before you make sure you're in a good range with your jet you can do plug chops for fine tuning especially if you get a new carb with an adjustable needle but you would have to search that one i couldn't explain it all. also make sure you don't skip the simple stuff, make sure your throttle cable isn't too tight and also try adjusting the brass screw on top of your carb if you haven't already. if you have done this then you may be running lean at idle and may need to go up in pilot jet size but mine idles fine with the stock pilot. also make very sure your filter is sealed to your carb mine liked to slide off some when i had it mounted that way the tube fixed that though

how many miles? new or used? have you checked the basics?(spark plug, air filter, change oil, clean carb) i would open up the transmission and check that over, if you post pics of the transmission parts we can most likely identify a problem if there is one. good luck Apex & welcome to the wonderful world of kymcoforum  :D

well she's running nice & smooth again i cleaned the valves and re-installed didn't see anything traumatic in there, let it idle for about 15 minutes then changed the oil again then test rode. still getting that tapping sound kinda sounds like an exhaust leak but it makes something like a high pitched buzzing noise while riding ... i called it a night but any ideas would be appreciated i'll be digging back in tomorrow

try replacing the spark plug if you haven't already that will eliminate that choice of being the problem if nothing else plus my bike runs a bit smoother on a new plug. the starter gear that you mentioned will sometimes rattle at those speeds mine does but my exhaust is pretty loud so i don't hear it anymore some people on here have fixed it but you would have to search the forum to find that solution as i don't remember how. if you're hitting 40+ i'm sure your scoot has been de-restricted so you may want to go up a little in jet size. also check your CDI (the little black box with the green plug in your battery box) to see if it has a cut in it, if not you should search the forum for cdi cut and go ahead and do it that could possibly help with starting and it will give you a good increase in power as it takes the rev limiter off the ignition. hope this helps  :)

yes that is correct a 105 jet = 1.05mm whereas an 85 jet = 0.85mm as you said

It's been a while guys hope you are all doing well, i seem to be in need of your assistance again... It was 121 degrees on the heat index today and i was scootin along when all of a sudden i lost a good amount of power then the scoot died on me, it overheated of course the plug was pretty burnt and smoke was coming out of the crankcase ventilation tube (tube that comes off the valve cover) It burnt quite a bit of oil in this process so when i got it home (in the back of a truck of course) i changed the oil and made sure the carb and transmission were in good working order then i test started it. it ran fine except for it taking a little extra gas to get it to start but has developed a tick at idle that sounds to me like it's coming from the head. i'm on my way outside to pull the head and check for bent valves, excess carbon, scars on cylinder wall, ect just wondering if anyone had any other ideas of things i should check after an overheating. i think i may have scarred the cylinder considering i drained about a cup of oil out of the bike which is way less than what was in there when i left this morning but i guess we'll see  :-\

wow it seems all of your black plastic is graying.. you can try armor all but be careful as it will make surfaces slippery, i coat mine with turtle wax ICE plastic wax on a monthly basis and it stays decently black.

i've had that exact variator on my agility for about 2000km now and it's done very well so far very smooth but quick acceleration, gained 4-5mph on top end and it seems very well built, i also have a naraku 72cc kit installed which hasn't given me a single problem yet :D all in all i've been very pleased withthe cost effectiveness of naraku parts

« on: July 08, 2011, 08:22:39 PM »
make sure you're lining up the T on your flywheel with the timing mark towards the REAR of the scoot. i had the same problem until i realizeed i was timing it 180 out lol luckily i didn't bend a valve.. when at tdc the lobes on your cam should be facing in a downward direction (as in not towards the rocker arms)
