Super 8 150 / Re: adding a more open exhaust system.

Sorry, NO EFI and choke handle  for you. Carb and bystarter for this model.
Dang me, I guess that I will have to go through the pain of finding out what size main metering jet to use with that more open exhaust system should I choose to do it.

My 2021 Kymco Super 8 X150 does not have a choke handle on the handlebars. So that must mean that it's EFI, right? or not?

Has anyone installed a more open muffler on the 2021 Super 8 X150 and if so what size main metering jet did they use?

Super 8 150 / Re: Valve Clearance
« on: November 18, 2021, 04:04:52 PM »
Many modern motorcycles have valve check intervals of around 15,000 miles.  Many Yamaha's have a 26,600 mile interval and that includes the Yamaha Majesty Scooter.  Small scooters with screw and locknut valve trains need more frequent checks but not as often as the manuals often say.
Best to do at 6000 miles because 26000 miles is way too far chancing that the valves sticking out and not closing properly are also possibly sticking out too far and being hit by the piston. And we all know what that means!

I put over 33,000 miles on a Super 8 150.  The valves did occasionally need adjustment but there was no need to check them every 2500 miles like the manual said.  My experience with a variety of bikes is that you can normally double the Manufacturer's recommended valve check interval without any issues.

Yep, I agree. Most motorcycle valve clearance adj are done right around every 6000 miles

Super 8 150 / Valve Clearance

I knew that the valve clearance would not need adjustment , But I went through the motions anyhow and sure enough the clearance was right on at 004. The book said to have the shop do it. But I am 100 miles from the shop. And have been doing valve clearance check/adj since 1950. Shop not doing it might raise some warranty Q's. But who needs them. Besides,  Seattle Scooter Center has a jerk working there that gets his kicks screwing over Senior citizens.

Thanks for all the kind words Y'all. It's comments like that which keeps the old Geezy Rider going. Though my daughter frets over me she was eager to hear how the ride went. And going over those Cascade Mountains never get's old.

Super 8 150 / 800 mile round trip
« on: September 02, 2021, 03:13:52 PM »
Well, at 90 years of age I performed my Last Hurrah. Drove the Super 8 from Birch Bay Wa to the eastern side of WA to Spokane and Back. Took all the 2 lane roads. Driving on the shoulder to let faster vehicles pass. Luckily, Washington State has great shoulders wide enough and clean enough to allow such craziness. Though  there was some spots not wide enough that didn't allow me to use the shoulder. Thru the entire 800 miles there was only one spot that had any junk, a small branch with leaves on it that I was able to avoid handily. Drove over the Northern Cascades which is a twisties delight and past all the wheat growing fields of Eastern WA. My daughter and daughter in law fretted  the entire trip. But my 71 years of 2 wheeling experience brought me home safely. Kept them aware of my progress with with texts at each fuel fill up that was quite often due to that 1.5 Gallon fuel tank.
And now, as I sit at at my PC, I wonder if I will still be around next year to repeat that most enjoyable Craziness ???? Maybe with a bigger Scoot to handle all the speed limit's and not have to to pull over, eh?

Super 8 150 / Back Rest
« on: July 05, 2021, 11:20:43 PM »
2021 Super 8, 150X. Has anyone tried to move the back rest back, and has anyone had any success? Though the back rest is at the very back of the front seat it still pushes one forward cramping ones posture. Hey, and I am only 5'6" and not fat. So I can see where it would really cramp someone who is much bigger or fatter.

Super 8 150 / Re: Headlight aiming
« on: June 12, 2021, 03:44:42 PM »
Okay, here's the deal with Headlight aiming on the 2021 Super 8 150. The entire headlight assembly unscrews from behind the cowling with 3 Phillips screws on each side, plus the big Phillips screw on the front. The clear headlight lens is screwed internally to to the headlight assembly with about 8 screws.  The headlight bulbs are encased in two housings that don't appear to have any adjustments. Methinks this headlight system is strictly as  a warning to approaching drivers,  so that we can be seen better. I may be wrong about no adjustment screws, but I am just not ever going to ride at night. If the dealer would provide me with a 2021 Owners manual for the 2021 Super 8, 150X i might find a clue to the problem.

Photos please.
Often the headlight cover is affixed in the front handlebar panel. Glued or screwed.

Stig
There is a button just below the headlight cover that when removed shows a big Phillips screw head. I unscrewed it and nothing released. There are two of those push pins on the top of the front assembly just above the headlight cover that I am averse to pushing not sure that they are connected with the headlight cover. But what else could they be?

good looking scoot! Kind of like that big headlight and is that flat black? Looks good in the pic.

Yep, it's Flat Black And  just recently purchased it new. But the first night I drove it I found that the headlights are seriously out of adjustment, almost not enough light to find my way home.
