I would not get that switch until you have inspected/tested and proved that is the cause.

Thank you so much for all your help! I really appreciate it. I'll do some digging and tests this weekend.

Bet you got a wire worn through near shift linkage...

I was hoping you wouldn't say it was a wiring issue, LOL.  Is it a new gear change switch that I need? I attached a screen shot.

No it does not. The moment I put into forward or reverse it shuts off as if I turned key off.  I just tried it when I got home from work it worked just fine.  The moment I turned it off and started it again, the same issue came up.  It seems to work after it's been sitting for 24 - 48 hours and will continueto work as long as its still running. It quits working as soon as I turn off the engine and start it back up again.

Already tried that with no luck, unfortunately.

MXU / MXU 150 Dies When I put Into Forward or Reverse
« on: May 31, 2022, 04:53:31 PM »
I recently purchased a few used ATV's for the fam.  Kymco 50 mongoose, MXU 150, and a Honda 300ex.  I don't know the exact age of the MXU 150, but I'm assuming it's 2007 give or take.  Anyway, the 150 was running fine for a few days, but overnight it now dies when I put it into forward or reverse. I've tried a hand full of things which would result in a day or two or even less of things appearing to be fixed, but the issue eventually comes back up.

Things I've already tried
- Cleaned out the carb (didn't even need to be cleaned, but cleaned anyway)
- Changed the fuel and air filters (definitely needed to be changed)
- Adjusted the idle, which worked pretty well when I found a sweet spot. Adjusting the idle seemed to have the best results, but now even adjusting the idle does not work.
- Checked the safety switch on the left brake handle and it appears to work fine

I'm not very mechanical so any suggestions would be appreciated. Most of the things I tried were suggested by friends and this I read online.  I've talked to some ATV owners that I know and they can't figure out what's going on. It's a really old Kymco 150 so, I dont' want to spend a lot of money taking it to get repaired if I don't have to.
