Nice Stig! I'm just starting my look for a fuel pump, thanks for posting this. Looks easy enough to do and the high flow will be nice.

Thanks!

It's been while since I last posted on this thread, but things changed. I have since replaced a couple of these starters by now, and it's quite easy. Not just because I've done it but that I relaxed, and realized I couldn't mess up. I didn't take pictures unfortunately. You will need to take the under seat compartment, and access the starter from there. Side lower side panel will need to be taken off as well. This will give you the access you need to remove, replace the starter. Rather crude instructions I know, but hope it helps.

I had come across that issue before and sent it back as I was not sure I could do a swap without messing things up. The way you explain it gives me the confidence top do it should I ever be in that situation again. I was too chicken to try it. lol

Keep it safe out there on those two wheels.

Hey Airfiber, welcome to the forum. There is a great and very helpful team of people here that know their stuff.
As for the tip over sensor I would recommend replacing it if the one now isn't working. It is important at least in my opinion. I've had my bike go down once and I'm glad it shut everything down so I could focus on the incident and make sure I was OK without having to worry about turning if off. Either way I'm glad you're up running.

Ah, I wondered about the Iridium plugs and almost bought on the last change out. Looks like I'll be buying one, probably ordering it but either way I'm getting one.

Thanks Stig! You're always a huge help.

good thread and good info. Man, how many times has a no start or intermittent start condition come down to the OP finding a problem with one of the key wires or connections? There seems to be a pattern where at first the OP feels the wires and connections are fine but upon closer inspection and more questioning a fault / bad connection / corrosion, etc is found?

Seems to be the #1 solution for these types of problems. Kudos to all for diagnosing and helping to fix!

Couldn't agree with you more. Slow down and inspect.
Thanks family!

I've seen some gloves from the warming store and they look pretty good. Also, good point on the direct battery hook up I hadn't thought of the possible drain on it. I also noticed the 7.4v gloves seem to be the best outside of a direct hook up. The spray on silicon is also something I didn't consider but I like the idea. I've not really looked at the Highway 21 gloves yet but have seen them on the internet. It's good to know they are a good option.

I hadn't seen any outside covers for the gloves and I can see how they wouldn't work too well so the spray is probably the best solution at the moment for the rain protection. I considered looking for heated leather but that's where the rain part comes in and I hesitate getting them. I find it a little difficult to find actual motorcycle gloves vs ski or snow gloves.

Thanks info on the top box this time I'll make a note of that as I'm really liking the idea of the lights for viability.

Appreciate the advice/tips Stig!

What brand do you use? I'm not sure if I want to go battery or 12v to the main battery. How's the battery life?

I gotta say (probably again) I love that top case you have with the lights. I am a tad bit jealous but I'll deny it if asked. haha
I ride in the winter here in the NM and yes it gets cold and snowy at times but it's still a lot of fun. Anyone have heated gloves? I rode this morning with a windchill of 9-13 degrees and my hands didn't like it too much. I was layered up fine on the rest but my hands need help. Thank goodness I have a windscreen otherwise it would have been much colder. Also, what about heated anything else for the cold rides?
I realize in FL you wouldn't probably use the heat but maybe someone out east does?

Hey Kymco family. I'm still riding my 2016 Like 200i all over the city even in the winter, ah a nice crisp ride is refreshing. Here's my question. Have any of you tried running a higher temp plug in the 163cc engines? I have been considering the CR8HSA instead of the stock CR7HSA. Anyone have experience in this area? Reason? I want a little more kick out of the scooter. I did put a new plug in cr7hsa but I'm not feeling the power I did before. Air filter is clean and all oil changes have been 1500 miles or less on full synthetic. I have not tried messing with the transmission sliders or anything in there. The bike is in near perfect condition with no damage to it at all. All systems seem to be running good. No codes in the system. It can be a tad bit sluggish when starting needing a little twist of the throttle to get it started up.

What do you guys think?

Inspect CLOSELY the condition of the fat wired from battery to start relay, from relay to starter and from battery to ground.  You have a bad connection, bad terminal connection or corroded terminal crimp.

Apologize for the delay in getting back to this post. Crossbolt you were correct in checking the wires. I found a bad spot in the cable connected to the starter. Repaired it and no more problems. Thanks peoples for all your help and support. You all have bailed me out in a few situations now and I really appreciate it!

BRAKE LIGHT lights when you pull lever? If not, then small switch failed behind lever = won't start.
Jump/short solenoid with screwdriver kicks starter over?
12 fuel pump or circuit malfunction
Stig

Fuel pump works as I can hear it plus when running I have to issues with fuel.
Circuit malfunction? Can you or someone elaborate on that? I understand what a circuit is but what could be part of the 12 code?
As part of the spark circuitry, I did replace the spark plug.

Yes brake lights when pulling lever.
Got bike back and after a day of bad weather I got to looking at the cabling. The positive is perfect point to point. Negative has one spot that shows wear from rubbing against the frame but it didn't wear through. I repositioned rub spot and checked the rest of the cables with no other problems. Removed the starter and it tested fine. Put the starter back in, connected all  wires and it clicked. After I put everything back together I tried once again and it started. So, it's intermittent and wires are not the problem. Key switch has no damage, battery full charge and tried a new battery just for testing, starter is strong. Last is a bad solenoid. Maybe the two I have are cheap?
Anyone recommend a good name brand solenoid?
Any other idea's?

Hello,
First - i'd question your battery. NEW?
Are you getting any codes ("blinks") from the CELP light. That light next to the engine/block shaped item on the lower right of your dash?
With key on it should light up for 2 seconds - then go off....Blinks after that are codes for various EFI faults.
Are you getting any 'blinks'?

EFI needs a good strong battery to operate properly.
Have you tried a jump from a NON RUNNING car's 12V battery?

KILL switch in run position?, brake light lights with key on and brake lever pulled?
Fuses good?
Battery terminals clean and snug?
NEG battery lead to frame point clean and snug? (lower right side)

History please: Stollen ever?, crashed and repaired?, ignition jimmied?,

First starting problem was what?

No, it's not bad luck. You've an electrical issue probably.....and should be not too hard to sort it out.
Hang in there!
Stig

Battery-I have two both strong one is new.
Start switch in run position. Brake lever pulled.  Hear one click. Not stolen, not crashed, ignition is normal no damage. Battery terminals are very clean. The bike is in near perfect condition other than the no start.
First start issue was the oem starter going out, 1st replacement went bad after 50 days, 2nd replacement didn't last a day.
Almost forgot, I have tried to jump it but it's the same click. I'll check ground as soon as I get it back to my garage (tomorrow morning).

Codes: 12 no others.
