Super 8 / Super 8 Electrical Headache

First off, I’m not “super scoot savvy” so please be gentle. Super 8 50cc 4 stroke. Was sitting for awhile, picked it up for cheap. Here’s the issue…switch the key on…pull left brake lever …hit start…nothing! If I let off the brake lever, the engine attempts to crank….but I have no spark. No kick stand switch. Combo switch new….stator new….both CDIs new…regulator new….
I did notice the previous owner “attempted” to do some sort of jack leg re-wiring under the hood, so I’m lost..
if I left out any important info, please let me know…like I said, not super scoot savvy. Sorry
But ANY help would be greatly appreciated
