General Discussion / Kymco People 150 "Backfire"?
« on: August 25, 2023, 02:40:37 PM »
My scooter has recently started to have a faint "backfire".  It's more like an almost backfire with a poof or subtle puff not ending the a real pop like cars.  I replaced the carb and it's the same.  What area of the engine should I be investigating?  Someone said the timing may be off. If this is a real thing, where can if find information to help me improve timing?
Thanks, Dave

Recently replaced carb and vacuum fuel petcock only to find problem still exists, only intermittently. Listing circumstances and problems:  Main problem seems like fuel cut off or too much choke while driving. After driving for several minutes where it seems like a hard fail is immanent the problem resolves by itself. On cold start this scooter typically performs best without any throttle on start.  Adding throttle seems to contribute to problems later.  I feel engine temp sensing may be part of the problem.  Auto (electric) choke is at top top of my suspect root cause. Recently while the problem was very bad while driving I stopped, let engine idle and upon resuming the ride it was resolved.  Sometimes while riding, very low throttle helps it work through the problem.  Lots of throttle is worse.  Asking for ideas to check and any other help.  Love this bike but at the end of my debug skills.

People 150 / Kymco People 150 fuel vacuum shut off p202
« on: June 29, 2023, 05:11:19 PM »
Looking for purchase source for Kymco People 150 fuel vacuum shut off p202, located at out-flow of gas tank with hose clamp connection (not threaded). This looks like it [https://www.ebay.com/itm/384927659817?hash=item599f79f729:g:LZUAAOSwDDFimSPn]. Was hoping to find it on Amazon.  I've read this is a common failure point.  Scooter runs, but runs like sh** after it's warm.

Look for a guide how to clean this carburetor and a drawing if possible.  Also, where this job is regarding difficulty.
Thnks, Dave

General Discussion / Kymco People 150 fuel filter
« on: September 23, 2022, 07:35:07 PM »
My fuel filter has the inlet from gas tank and has TWO output lines.  One goes just prior to Carb and the other goes to gas/air flow on the other side of carb, bypassing carb.  I don't understand whets going on.  The reason i ask is that i don't believe i will find this odd fuel filter and want to understand to enable me using a non OEM option that may not have two lines coming out of the bottom of fuel filter
