CDI box should located beside the coolant reservoir tank, you’re going to have to remove some panels around the seat to see it. CDI controls the firing of the ignition coils.

Venox 250 / Venox Overheating
« on: June 05, 2024, 09:29:10 PM »
My 2005 venox overheat light comes on at the same time as the radiator fan kicks on. It’s supposed to trigger before it overheats right? I’ve replaced the thermostat, thermostatic switch for the fan, and the thermosensor. Water pump I believe works fine, it looks new. Blipping the throttle when I was bleeding out the radiator would suck in coolant. Only thing I can think of is the coolant to water ratio being at 50/50 vs 30/70 in the manual.

Anybody else have their venox run with the standard 50/50 coolant mixture with no issues?

Venox 250 / 17540-KED9-900 FUEL ASSY VALVE?
« on: October 01, 2023, 10:54:31 PM »
Hi, I was going through fuel parts diagram and came across this part which I have never seen before on the underside of my fuel tank (2005 Carbureted Venox). If anyone else still has a Venox in possession, could I see some pictures of the underside showing what it looks like? Also pictures of the gas tank refill hole with the cap off would be nice too, recently noticed a small hole bottom left of where the cap would go, possibly a vent?

Venox 250 / Re: Bike dies when I put in first gear
« on: September 22, 2023, 05:43:48 PM »
Hello,

Could you provide some more details? I don’t know if I’ll be able to help, but might be able to point you in the right direction along with input from other members.

Did you just buy the bike?
Did it run normally before?
Have you tried 2nd gear?
Have you tried rolling starting it in gear?
Any regular pro longed low speed friction zone sessions?
Odometer reading?
Have you worked/serviced it before? If so, what exactly?

I myself have a 2005 Venox, haven’t touched the clutch assemblies yet, but it’s on my list.

Venox 250 / Re: Carb Synchronization, Where to plug?
« on: July 21, 2023, 11:36:56 PM »
Check your exhaust plumbing carefully.  Many small v-twins like the little Viragos have a "fake" muffler atop the real muffler.  If you look underneath you might find you have the same fake arrangement.
Hi, I’m aware of the old viragos having fake mufflers but I’m pretty confident the Venox has both real ones, I checked the parts diagram and remember seeing the top muffler going to the front combustion chamber and the bottom muffler to the rear chamber.
I attached the part diagram photo I mentioned, the longer tube extending far out to the left is for the top muffler I’m concerned about, the shorter one is the bottom muffler. The more I think about it, I believe the difference in exhaust temps is possibly due to the bottom muffler having a shorter length of piping to the rear combustion chamber therefore less travel for heat to exit the muffler versus the top muffler having twice as long of piping to the front chamber resulting in more distance between the exhaust and the chamber. I guess simply put, the shorter the pipe to the combustion chamber, the warmer the exhaust since it’s closer. The longer the pipe, the further away from the chamber thus less by the time it exits the muffler.

Id still like to know where I need to plug my carb sync tool as well and where the adjustment is haha if anyone knows that’d be great.

Venox 250 / Carb Synchronization, Where to plug?
« on: July 21, 2023, 12:30:16 AM »
Hi,

I noticed my top muffler exhaust is not outputting much heat compared to the bottom muffler so I’m looking to synch my carbs on my 2005 Kymco Venox  hoping that’ll fix thems up, but not 100% sure where I am supposed to plug into? Also not sure where I should do the adjustment for the carbs? I recently got my hands on a Morgan carbtune.

Venox 250 / Re: Turn Signals Not Flashing, Stay Solid
« on: July 03, 2023, 02:33:03 PM »
Just an update, so turns out the two front turn signal assemblies are aftermarket and not stock, and only support bulbs up to 5w while the rear ones are stock with the correct 10w bulbs. Called so many places before realizing these turn signals don’t support any bulbs at 10w so I ordered the OEM ones, hopefully this finally gets my blinkers actually blinking now.

It's actually a combination of push and twist.
Some visuals:

Ah I see now thanks for the pictures! I’ll see what I find this weekend when I remove them

I opened up the covers to the bulbs and the not sure how the bulbs are secured, is it twisted in or is there like something to push to release it? They’re so fragile I’m afraid to break them with my fingers alone haha

Venox 250 / Turn Signals Not Flashing, Stay Solid
« on: May 23, 2023, 02:45:45 AM »
Hello, as title states, the turn signals do not flash and just stay solid. I replaced the flasher relay with a brand new one but still the same symptom, all lights work, they just don’t flash, any ideas? I’m thinking about just buying some electrical contact cleaner and spraying the connector that connects to the flasher relay but other than that I have no other clue.

Venox 250 / Re: 2005 Kymco Venox runs on choke only
« on: April 20, 2023, 03:12:51 PM »
Found the problem, one of the float valve pins in one of the carburetors was stuck as in the small spring push pin on the needle was stuck out so basically starving my bike of gas!

I’m not sure, previous owner never did anything besides oil and chains etc. I’ll try to take the carbs out and do a thorough cleaning.

Venox 250 / 2005 Kymco Venox runs on choke only
« on: March 22, 2023, 01:55:28 AM »
Hello, I’ve been lurking the forums for quite a while now since picking up a Venox last year, finally decided to make an account in hopes of getting help.
Bike won’t stay running unless choke is pulled about 3/4 of the way out. Changed air filter, spark plugs, drained old gas last year before winter and put in new gas with stabilizer before storage. It originally sat in a heated garage for a few years untouched.
Any thoughts or ideas on what to do?
