Technical | How To / Valve clearances across bikes and sources
« on: October 28, 2023, 03:11:22 PM »
So in a different thread I was trying to find what my recommended valve clearances should be. I have a 2009 People 150.
I was looking in different places and am a bit confused now because of the variability of what should be a pretty important figure.
I was hoping people could post what their model bike is, what the clearance is supposed to be according to the service manual summary sheet, and in the valve chapter, as well as what the placard in the seat bucket says.

I'll go first
Service Manual summary sheet: Intake (0.10 mm), Exhaust (0.10mm)
Service Manual Valve chapter (chapter 3 for my manual) : Intake (0.10mm) Exhaust  (0.10mm)
Service Manual Valve Chapter 7 (intake (0.12mm) Exhaust (0.12mm)
Seat bucket placard Intake/exhaust (0.06mm +-0.02mm)

screenshots and pictures are attached.

Let's hope he read that wrong....those stickers can be hard to read down in there.
Stig
I posted the picture of it, although with my luck, maybe it didn’t upload correctly.

I realize this is an old thread, but I wanted to put it in for reference as the vnumber posted in my seat bucket was so different, although my people 150 is from 2009.  Anyway, the value for mine is .06mm +- .02mm

Technical | How To / Faring screws?
« on: July 01, 2023, 11:48:01 AM »
Just curious if there is a common go to for aftermarket faring screws.
I’m working on an agility 50 now that I bought off FB marketplace and it was missing a lot of screws that held the plastic fairings together. Buying official screws gets kinda pricey, so was curious what other people do.

I was looking into getting some new grips for my Agility 50. I was looking at these from jcwhitney. Will these work for my scooter?

How did this work out for you?
I’m about to do the same. Any advice that you learned going through the process?

Technical | How To / Re: Agility 50 pulser cable, ignition?
« on: June 08, 2023, 01:32:04 PM »
Found out the pulser goes to ground when the key is at the off position.
I didn’t understand what those switch diagrams were on the bottom of the wiring diagram.
Live and learn I guess.

Technical | How To / Agility 50 pulser cable, ignition?
« on: June 06, 2023, 10:58:47 PM »
I picked up an agility 50 to try and repair recently. Kinda rough shape, so I’m just diagnosing now.
I get no spark yet, so I’m working through that line of stuff.
Any ideas why the cable from the pulser (part of the stator/flywheel apparatus) has a tie-in to the keyed ignition switch? Does it also get 12v from the battery and hence needs to get it at the ignition?

Compagno 50i and 110i / Re: Removing plastics

I ended up taking the actual small switch out of a new assembly and putting it into the old assembly which I managed to be able one up without removing the handlebar plastics.

To Neil,
Yeah, interesting is ok.
Praying it’s not catastrophic.

To monkeybongos:
Me too.
So far it’s been okay. Door dash isn’t mandatory, so if it gets too breezy, i will try to stop.

How much does that box weigh?

Stig
It’s about 17lbs. I removed the stock rack and used the mounting holes with three sections of m8x1.25 threaded rod To connect  the base to the bike. I believe the base is 5/8 plywood.
The side walls are 1/2” plywood. The top skin is 1/8” plywood with fiberglass/resin for some extra strength and waterproofing.

Some videos can be fun to watch to see scenery in a different part of the country/ different country or a specific sight. I was hoping to see still pictures of the scooter itself. The P150 is not seen around here.

Well, here she is, humble as she is.
I’m Making her into a DoorDash delivery bike, so I’ve added a homemade tail box that should accommodate most of what I’d be delivering.

Compagno 50i and 110i / Removing plastics
« on: May 10, 2023, 06:15:23 PM »
Hi,
I bought a used Compagno 50i.
I’m trying to remove the plastics around the handlebars because I’m trying to replace the kill switch, Which had been removed and just complete the wiring circuit without the switch by connecting the wires.
Since I normally tend to force plastics, thereby breaking them, I wanted to seek advice on removing them here.
 Any suggestions?

Well, I paid $600 for the bike. Paying another 500 for the camera seems a bit much.
I get that the views are more dynamic on that other camera, and honestly, I may get it for a project I’m working on, but the views in WNC are pretty great just riding, so a handlebar cam is pretty cool for a dude who just has his endorsement for like 4 months.

General Discussion / Re: Older kymco odometer in kilometers?
« on: April 20, 2023, 01:48:15 PM »
Lol, recently bought a used 2009 people 150. This would explain why it gave me 132 miles per gallon on my latest fill up. If it’s actually kilometers on the odometer, although that figure still seems too good. Am going to do some tests today with gps and car odometer.

Edit: yeah, it actually says “km” in red letters just under the odometer.

Nice bespoke solution Bosticer. How about vibration, is that an issue?

Vibration is pretty okay, depending on the road condition mainly.
I tried it out today and was satisfied with the performance.
This is an off brand (aldi) gopro-type camera, with their mounting kit.
I wasnt' expecting perfect, but thought it was fine.
Here's me riding in western NC on some backroads.

Its on the left handlebar, so its not centered like a lot of folks have on their helmets, so it makes me look like I'm riding right on the center line. I may be a bit too close, but not excessively.  You also miss out a little on what's on the right side of the road, but it'll do for most of what I need.
(I'm still pretty new to riding, but am having fun)
