Everything I have read so far has me believing the same. Can't wait for my local dealer to finally get one in. I've called everyone I know in North TX to get my hands on one but NO ONE has any in stock.

on another note

Is there a Master list of Scooter Shops/Retailers in USA? That would certainly be helpful to the industry and to consumers alike.

I wanted to be sure that I could get on the highway and pass when needed and evade if I have to. Traffic in DFW is sometimes DO or DIE. Don't want to be on the back end of that statement.  Do you know of any place to get comprehensive performance numbers?

Acceleration:0-30 mph, 30-60 mph, 60-Top Speed mph; Braking: Top Speed-0, 60-0 mph, 30-0 mph

You know stuff like that

Downtown 300 / Oil of Choice?
« on: May 17, 2011, 10:52:36 PM »
Hi Peeps,

I've been out of scooting for a while (7 years). Not really sure what I should be planning to do for maintenance. I know that oil changes during the break in period is really important (or so I have heard), so is there a particular oil that I should use for longevity and performance? I have heard that Royal Purple should be my first choice. True, not true or does it even matter? Answers please?

Actually 4x the displacement is a penile aid, indicating the lack of masculinity................. :)

...

One of the attractions to a Cager thinking of converting to one of these as a commuting alternative is a quiet bike.

...

Again to me a loud bike gives a low quality impression. To each their own, some people argue that you need to be heard. I’d rather be seen than heard and if they are admiring the bike you are likely to be paid more attention to.

Personally I like the sound of a Sewing Machine on "ROIDS"! (So much for masculinity) It's got to cruise like an angel/Accelerate like a demon!  :o

Looking for a NEW bike and the 300 cc class is really coming into it's own. Simple question ... which one would you take home? You can say why below

I've been out of "Scooting About" for about 6 years ... but some of you guys have been out longer than I have been alive. And here I was thinking that I was WAY out the loop.  ;D

True. They all feel solid and well built, but are a couple millimeters in gap difference worth an extra couple of G's?  ???

It sounds like these plugs are getting the job done! I have a friend who thinks Bosch plugs are the best around. He tells me I should put in the Bosch plugs. What do you say Tanware?

No doubt. I figure I will be filling up more than most.

On another note ...

you seem to have become quite familiar with your bike. I have followed a few of your post and notice you frequently mention some performance enhancements that you are performing/anticipating. Is there a section on this forum where a NEWB can learn about upgrades and enhancements/care for the bikes? I am hoping to turn mine into a "rolling rocket". LOL love that term!

@ TanWare

No problem at all brother. This is exactly what I was wanting to know. I plan on getting one by August (hope fully by the  4th of July) and want to get as much info as possible. I am a pretty aggressive rider but I have never owned a bike with this kind of displacement (Only 50cc). So I am excited about the power gain but a bit concerned that it will not be enough. BUT it sounds like I am going to be fine. SO XCITED!

I wish I could pick a new handle now. (X5 was for the 500R i) Ha ha ;(

It really counts on where you are riding and your riding style but so far after my first tank I've seen over 70 MPG on the 300i and this is with quite a bit of interstate speeds.

I am kinda "hard" on the throttle. I drive pretty aggressively. I am assuming that I will get somewhere around 60-65 mpg. Most of the post and reviews mention 70-72. I'm assuming that these folks are moderate to miserly drivers. Sometimes the bats out of hell have to catch up! LOL
