Well after extensive checking of everything I could think of it seems it is a brake pedal or more precisely a brake adjustment issue as Randyo had noted and mstparker reiterated.

Today I adjusted the pedal multiple times in different positions and it seems, at least on my 450i, that I have a sweet spot in the pedal adjustment when if it is not in that sweet spot it produces the power on - no start. I had adjusted it before but I guess I did not get it in the sweet spot so it was consistent.

Anyway....thank you all for you observations and for now this is resolved.

Yes, it will start in neutral or if I rock it back and forth it will start in park. Battery is strong all wiring and connections are good. I have played with the brake adjustment and it does not really effect anything. I am investigating if there is another brake switch and anything related to the transmission position relative to starting.

I got a repair manual but it is no help with this particular problem. I am using it to go through every connection, sensor and switch related to the brakes, transmission and starting. It is a very odd problem.

Thank you for your thoughts! I will investigate the brake observations.

I bought my 450i uxv 4x4 new in 2021. It has been running perfectly. All maintenance done as required. Love the thing. Recently though I will turn it on.... dash lights come on and buzzer sounds but no crank, no noise. no anything at all as if it had a bad ignition switch. I have realized if I put it in neutral it starts right up or if I rock it back and forth it starts right up. Yes, I am always pressing the brake pedal when starting.

Is it a transmission position sensor issue?

I read the other posts about starting problems, but my starting problem is not similar. I have power to the on position, but no crank, no nothing unless it is in neutral or I rock it back and forth. Battery is good, connections are good, wires are good.

Thoughts?

Thank you in advance!
