Found the wiring diagram in http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=7446.0  ;D
What might be the issue is that the left LEDs are fed directly from the switch and that tapping into the harness down the handle bars, is breaking the load of the rear lights.  ::) :-[
Will try again next weekend to test this theory.  8)

Got the "dummy turn signal lights" rewired.

Was trying to get the mirror turn signal LEDs to be a combination of DRL/TS, but ran into a snag as per http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=23012.0

Need to get her out to get serviced...

For now I've returned the LEDs to normal operation as I was running out of time and ideas.  :(

I've wired the "dummy turn signals" back into operation and might give your idea a try with the front turn signals.  :)
(Using the read signals is too cumbersome as I don't have a wiring skeleton diagram to find where to tap into them.)
Not using a relay might prove problematic as the negative wire for the Right LEDs is a shared wire.   ::)

What I might try is wire the relay in parallel with the front turn bulbs.  ???

Downtown 300 / Turn Signal MOD not working for Left mirror

Though I read somewhere that one of us had converted the mirror LEDs to DRL, but cannot find it.  ???

I had prepared last winter two relays to invert my mirror turn signals into DRL. Today I finally found to time to install them.

What I did is, cut the blue wire for the Right LEDs and connect the relay actuator to this blue wire and the green return wire.
Connected the relay switch to the LEDs and get 12 V from the glove compartment power socket.
Now the LEDs are lit by default and when signalling the relay breaks the power to the LEDs and dim them at the flashing rate. In effect the flash cycle has been reversed.  8)

Next I went to do the same for the Left LEDs. Cut the orange wire and inserted the relay. Connected the other relay actuator wire to the green wire and the other relay switch wire to the same 12 V.
However the left relay is not working.  :-\ LEDs will light up, but nothing happens when engaging the Left turn switch. If I take out the relay and reconnect the LEDs all is working again. With the relay in place, I can give 12 V to the orange relay actuator wire and the LEDS will dim. Thus all seem to be wired correctly?  ??? ::)

Does anyone have a Electrical schematic of the Downtown 300i? I'm stumped why Right is working, but Left is not. Love to know exactly how the Winker relay is wired into the whole setup.  ???

P.s.
Seems like it'll not be too hard to add the dummy turn lights into real turn lights as well. All is wired including actual bulbs, except for the connectors to the front cowl.  :)

Not yet !  ::)

kneeslider still has the ::) opportunity to make his start picture in front of a SB.  ;)

I think it'll be great to see some DT300i pics at interesting places  ;D

I've bought a Michelin Power Pure SC to replace the Maxxis Pro.
After 6076 km it still had 1.9 mm above wear mark :(

Well I got the wheel off, but could not remove the tire. Tried the Ziptie method, but could not get enough clearance with the tire beads touching each other.  Will have to bring it to a tire shop.  :-\

Will have to wait two weeks before I can finish it   :'(

to be continued...

Downtown 300 / Rear Tire replacement DIY?
« on: May 31, 2014, 02:38:37 AM »
Got a nail in my rear tire and need to replace the tire. However my Kymco dealer is 50 km away.  :(
Thus I'm contemplating to do the replacement myself.  ::)  :P
Anyone done it?

Manual says:
Remove the exhaust muffler
Remove the brake caliper
Remove the rear fork
Remove rear axle collar

The only point I'm confused about the the rear fork.
It states to remove the right shock absorber lower bolt and the rear axle nut and collar.
Then you can remove the rear fork? Is it not connected towards the front?  ???

Thanks  8)

Also if you are planning a PnP install get proper ballasts with good caps and error cancling................
Looked at HIDcountry and they have the G5 slim balast version with optional Capacitor.
Did not mention error cancelation. How does that work anyway if you wire it as racewalker did?
Is this the setup you got, racewalker?

I'm contemplating the beadrider.com seatcover.
Has anyone experiences and suggestions for size?

Thanks  all.

Have you guys tested the blinding effect of the HID conversions ???
As the HID has an arc and not a straight filament, it's beam is not as designed for the lens.
Wondering how noticeable the misalignment is?   :-\
Wouldn't want to blind an oncoming driver and have him veer into my path.  >:(

What are your experiences?

Keep it safe, ATGATT
