Venox 250 / Lowering a Venox 250
« on: September 26, 2024, 01:41:02 PM »
My daughter bought a new Venox 250 in 2010. She had been in the market for a new motorcycle after having a old Yamaha Virago 250 as a first motorcycle.
All bikes she looked at were taller than she wanted and the Kymco dealer was the only willing to offer a solution.

So they fitted a 160/60-15 rear tyre lowering the bike enough and giving the bike better acceleration and top speed.

Now I have a Venox 250 I thought of doing the same but the 160/60-15 tyres are too expensive. I have fitted a 43 tooth sprocket for performance and lowering the rear with 10.5 inch for styling reasons. this lowers the rears about 2.5-3 inches.

Care needs to be taken to ensure the lean angle is still enough, I used 15mm longer spacer tubes to raise the front slightly.
Photo shows the difference after removing the original shock with the swing arm in it's original position.

The Magna 250 forward controls are on, only minor adaption was required.
The main difference is Venox controls have a larger 12mm mounting holes so the brackets needed drilling to fit the frame and the controls needed bushing to locate on the new brackets (I used a 5/16 fuel line and washers must be used).
The kit came with a longer gear rod and brake rod.
The gear rod needed about 10mm cut from each threaded end.
The brake rod was perfect but the Kymco pivot pins have round heads and the rod needs pins with a flat ground on one side of the head.
Once installed a longer brake pedal adjuster bolt was needed and although alignment was off a bit it works well.

Ok guys so has anybody found or made any forward control extentions for a venox 250?
I have a set lying around from a 03 sportster and im thinking about seeing if i can revamp them to work with the venox. I already hot rid of the foot pegs and replaced them with foot boards. Any thoughts or advice before I start would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought a kit for a Honda Magna 250 which I hope will go on my Venox with little or no trouble.
I come with brackets to move the controls forward 100mm and up 30mm and extended gear rod and brake rod.

Main jets taken 7 numbers up.
Needles shimmed 1mm up.
Valve timing reset.
Custom exhaust with adjustable baffles.  ;D
LED headlight and turn signals.

Still lots to do.... but getting there !!!

Hope you like it

Hi great bike, did the intake make a difference, if so, what?
I just fitted a 43t rear sprocket and wow. Now waiting on forward control parts.
They are just a great bike.
I look forward to hearing more about yours.
