I forgot to add....besides my heavier duty coil / spark plug cable that I bought from Scooter Elements and an Iridium spark plug, my scooter is completely stock.

To answer the questions:

1. Yes I am currently happy with my speed. I had once myself had myself clocked on radar at 67 mph by the state trooper who pulled me over. He luckily turned out to be an old Navy friend.

2. I wasn't specifically thinking of a particular brand of slider. The current ones are just your basic generic ones and they performed very well.

The main reason I am asking is because I wanted to see what weight slider other Super 8 owners were using because like I said, I forgot what size I installed in mine. I know that I could weigh them but I assume that once they get worn down, the weight will change. I could be wrong about this though.  I just wanted to see what others were using. Perhaps they had suggestions.

Hello All,

I am thinking about replacing the slider weights on my Super 8 as they are about 2 years old and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestion on what weight is best for this scooter or what has worked best for them? I THINK I installed 14g sliders the last time I replaced them but I am not certain. By the way, in case it matters, I weight about 196 lbs. and the majority of my commute to and from work is on hilly and twisty farm roads. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I personally NEVER use the side stand as I just don't trust it. I always use the center stand, it feel so much more secure.

Super 8 150 / Re: How long will you ride WOT?

From time to time I go WOT on my 2011 Super 8 but never for very long. I have about 5,700 miles on her. Once I did a prolonged run at WOT and I got pulled over by a state trooper. He said the radar gun clocked me at 67 MPH. Luckily he turned out to be an old Navy buddy and he let me go.

by the way...I am 5'10" and about 196 lbs

I like the look of the dark colored heat shields on the new exhaust. Now I'm thinking about getting some exhaust paint and doing a flat black finish on mine.

I did this on my 2011 Super 8 and it looks much better with the black exhaust shield compared to the chrome.

General Discussion / Re: What is your favorite BEER!?
« on: November 01, 2013, 08:03:27 PM »
I prefer the more obscure craft beers over the mass produced ones. In my opinion the Budweiser type beer is junk. Right now I am really enjoying drinking Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse and Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. Both are amazing beers and I highly recommend them.

In addition I also brew my own beers and enter them in competitions.

General Discussion / Re: How many miles on your Kymco scooter ?

I have a 2011 Super 8 150cc with approx. 5,300 miles on her. She has never broken down or had any problems and she runs awesome. Some jerk knocked her over in the parking lot of a grocery but no major damage...just a few scratches and a broken brake lever.

Super 8 150 / Adjusting the Valves
« on: September 03, 2013, 05:44:12 PM »
Hello All,

Over the weekend I decided to check the valve clearance on my scoot. It turns out that they needed to be adjusted so I readjusted them to the suggested .004". I put everything back together and started her up and now the valves are tapping slightly. My question is, is this alright that they are tapping or should I take everything apart and tighten up the clearance even more? or will this tapping go away after riding the scoot for a bit? Is it hurting anything when it is making a tapping noise? Any suggestions are appreciated.

also... I just thought that I would add that I once got my speedometer to reach 75 mph going down a steep hill and it wanted to go even faster. I however backed off because it got rather scary and I didn't want to blow or damage the engine. Keep in mind that this speed was NOT GPS verified so I have no real good idea how fast I was truly going.

Last year I got pulled over by a state trooper on my scooter who luckily turned out to be an old shipmate of mine from the Navy. He said that he had me clocked on his radar at 67 mph. This was on a straight flat road. I very rarely ever go that fast but I had just decided to let her rip that day. I weigh 196 lbs. +/-

Super 8 150 / Re: New Tires
« on: April 15, 2013, 02:09:16 PM »
so if I go with a 140/60-14 size back tire, does that mean I would have to go with a 100/60-14 front tire instead of 100/80-14?
Doesn't the 60 indicate the sidewall height?

Super 8 150 / New Tires
« on: April 12, 2013, 06:30:14 PM »
It is time for me to start thinking about replacement tires for my 2011 Super 8 150cc. However I am having a lot of trouble finding my size tires. My front is a 100/80-14 and the rear is a 120/80-14. I have looked all over the place. I was hoping to get a better quality than the OEM's. Has anyone fund a good source for these tires? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
