So at the risk of looking like an idiot, I'll share a little story with you to maybe prevent anyone from making the same mistake. I decide to get back into riding after 20 years, and buy a new, 2009 Xciting 500 from my local, multi-brand, full-service dealer. The last bike I had was a Honda Shadow 1100. So I pick the 500RI up, bring it home, and like the way it rides, but notice that when I let off the throttle, the speed really dumps. I let this go for about 150 miles, when I decide to give the bike a full systems check. I had 15psi in both tires. 15psi!! What kind of dealer lets a brand new ride go off the lot with half the tire pressure?! Hey, the fault is all mine for not checking, but still I assumed, and we all know what happens when you do that. Now with the proper tire pressure(33psi), I love the ride! It's a totally different bike. I just hope I did not shorten the tire life too much.
