People 150 / Re: Stalling out 2009 People 150 at slow speeds

I had my shop check the belt, they sanded the cone thingy, and the belt thickness was within tolerance.

So, next I had them adjust the jetting on the carb, and now it has had no problems since, which was about 30 days ago.

Hasn't had any issues since then.

People 150 / Stalling out 2009 People 150 at slow speeds

Hi Everyone,

I am new to kymco forum, and I am glad it exists.  Looks like a lot of good info is passed around.

I just got a 2009 People 150, with almost 12K km.  It is in really good condition cosmetically, but is having some issues otherwise.  When I drive in city traffic and coast at about 15mph or less, it seems to stall.  Also, on take off it seems to stall too. I have had it stall a few times, and once turning onto another street, which sucks if your bike starts dying out on a turn and it pulls you into the inside of the corner.

Well, I took it to my local dealer and they said that it needed to be revved more and ridden at higher rpms, but I am thinking I live in the city and I don't feel like "punching it" in bumper to bumper traffic.  They thought it might be the belt, so they chamfered and sanded something on the drive part of the bike.  They also said the belt was still in spec, and did not need to be changed.  That didn't really fix the problem, but got us to think more about the motor, instead of the drive train.  They test drove it and couldn't see what I was talking about, and then later they told me they were test driving at full throttle, which I hardly do in rush hour traffic. :o

Anyone else having similar issues?  I am trying to help them troubleshoot this problem, and their next step is to adjust the jets, clean carb and look at the petcock.

If anyone has any technical suggestions or ideas on how to get them to see what it is, that would be helpful.  I even had the tech test drive with me driving today, but I think with the extra passenger weight it changed the whole characteristic of the symptoms.

Thanks in advance.
