Grandvista 250 / worried in the wind?
« on: April 28, 2012, 09:15:05 PM »
had my first hair raising ride home from work in very gusty winds....came too close to cars 2-3 times..need to work on counter steering!  Hub was following me and definitely was worried a few times....sometimes I wonder if those small wheels are stable enough..anyone with comments or similar experiences..  All I was doing was leaning as far as I could...

hub wants to take me out to a parking lot to work on counter steering..always realizing i have much to learn!

I have the taller Givi windscreen and it does take away alot of the wind..feels like just a bit of my head is above it.  gotten the bike up to almost 65 and it felt good..little wind in the face.  It came with my bike-previous owner installed it.

Thanks for the info on mileage..We (I) decided after what we rode yesterday, that it would be asking alot for me to make 400miles in one day on the scoot.  Im just not used to riding for longer distances by myself.  We are going to take off Friday night and get as far as we can and then do what's left of the 400 on Saturday.  We have plenty of time as we dont need to make the ferry until 7:30pm.  I am hoping around 200miles will be about right.

I was wondering about the GV on the highway.  So you dont feel it can keep up with traffic?  What is the max you have done on yours?

We will be mostly on back roads of 55mph speed limits.  I was riding pretty comfortably at between 55-65 for a good bit of yesterday with no problems.  It idles pretty loudly though, is this normal?  We havent done any service on the bike yet.  Previous owner had changed the oil recently and it only has 1000 miles.

We are getting ready for my first big trip next week to Wisconsin. Still a little worried about traveling at higher speeds for a longer time, but really worried about coming into rain and riding in it..

Any tips??

Im on a Grand Vista 250.

thanks...I am feeling better in traffic. I have spent the last couple of days riding in traffic and slowly taking bigger and bigger roads.  Made it over a few RR tracks and even went through a street where the pavement had been removed for resurfacing!  Took it slow and made it..i felt great!  Confidence is up, but I am still very aware of where I am and where i am going.  Getting excited for our trip next week to Wisconsin!  Only worried about rain..havent even touched that yet or a wet road for that matter.

Any tips on riding in the rain?/

Grandvista 250 / 1st ride in traffic!

hey divas--

Did my first ride around town and it was awesome!  Granted it was 8pm when I headed out, but I still got a good feel for some larger roads--will head into some heavier traffic tomorrow...felt great to get into the action.  REally helped to read people reminding me to "look where I want to go"--really helped with turns tonight..

yippee!

thanks for letting me know..I hope to stay around max 60-65mph which I have heard is a good cruising speed for this scooter.

DOes anyone have any issues with the smaller tires?

Just got a 2007 GV myself and I too am sooo excited!  I posted on another thread for any tips, information, anything anyone wants to share that will make my riding better..Im fairly new to riding and we are taking a trip to Wisc. and MN --me on my scoot and my hubby on his motorcycle.  Will the GV work for this trip?? Expecting to stay mostly on roads with top speed limit of 55-60mph.

A little nervous, but ready for the adventure!

thanks!

Just bought a 2007 GV with 1000 miles on it..My husband is a big motorcycle person, but I just felt more comfortable starting out on a scooter. We are planning a trip from Ohio to Wisconsin--me on the scoot and him on his BMW..Will I be okay taking the GV on this trip??  Miles to our first stop approx. 420.  Then legs will be closer to 200mi.

I would appreciate any comments on this and/or on the GV in general.  I am so excited to have this scoot, but im pretty new to riding, so any tips and information would be great!!

GO SCOOTS!
