stljimmy,
What a wonderful job. Your fitment and attention to detail looks like a factory installed option. Great looking scooter. Keep the pictures coming.
Thanks,
Mike
Thanks Mike!

I agree Bobby is a good guy. I put the new carb on and it ran great til it got in the upper 90s. With the stock carb on there was nothing that I didnt try to get it to run right. They said it had good fuel flow, spark, but low on compression. I wish they would have swapped the carb with the other S9 that was in the shop. I really dont think they intentionally misjudged it to get me to drop $400 on a BBK, it was just a really tricky carb problem that was only solved by a different carb. I probably wont go back though unless I bubble wrap it, because when I brought it in it was mint and when it came out the paint on both sides was minorly scratched. I didnt notice til I got home and I didnt mention it when I had to go back to get missing parts because Im sure it was an honest mistake. I am not being sarcastic, I just think they are too busy to really take the time needed to solve a tricky problem like this scooter had. I appreciate the offer for help but the jet kit is on the way and it should be back to normal again. Its ran great for a couple of weeks now just on a really hot day it will bog pretty bad.

Yes it was Bobby Carver's shop. I am from south county, Saint Louis. I just ordered some jets (thanks Peters), and when I get it dialed in I would be down to cruise around downtown or wherever you guys go. :)

What was the "other" carb? Stock?
It was a stock carb with a different main jet. I got the jetting dialed in and it ran good for a few months until the end of last summer when it started runnning badly, then this year it just got progressively worse to the point where it would only start with starting fluid. I cleaned it about 5 times, bought a jet kit, adjusted the float, washered the needle all this year after the problem. Maybe a leaking gasket or a bad seal somewhere?

After a top end, cdi, jetting, etc it finally runs right ;D The new carb did the trick.  I wonder what went wrong with the other carb? There is still a little fine tuning to do on the Mallossi 19mm, but I am going to hold off til winter and enjoy the scoot the rest of the summer. I almost gave up on it, but thanks to everybodys help on here I stuck with it and got it going. Thanks to all for the input :)

You mean those round plugs?
Yes. I havent messed with any of them in case they are not supossed to come out? I am hoping that one pops off and the injection will plug in.

YW. I do not see one but there is a vertical tab that is close to the intake.  I believe there are 3 tabs that can be removed. 2 are across from each other in the slide area, and one is that vertical that is close to the intake.

This is the link to the carb I bought. I couldnt buy it directly from the site but Areomyst hooked me up with it and a ton of tech support.  Everything is on except I am looking for a place to hook up the oil injection.  The directions that came with it are vague. I am thinking that I remove the silver tab next to the choke cable on the bottom pic?

This may be a dumb question, but how do I take it apart to replace the throttle cable for a different one? The one that came with the new carb unscrews, this one is a little different.

Josh hooked me up with the Mallossi/Dellorto carb.  The manual that came with it is kind of vague. I have a few questions about the install. Do I leave on the part that screws onto the top of the carb where my middle finger is? If it removed how do I get it off? Do I have to premix or is there a spot on the carb for the oil injection? If I do premix I found a write up from vdubn that will help out with the removal of the pump and all of the parts. Does anybody have a pic of good install places for the choke?

I, along with several others buy parts from them all the time.  Wonder what the issue is?

~Josh
It will not let me add it to the cart.  It says "Unfortunately we are not authorized to deliver MALOSSI parts to your country. We recommend you to take the suggested alternative.
$117.77"

Yes, it is the Malossi carb kit. Im glad to hear it works good on your Peters.  I will feel a lot better about spending the money on it. To bad I can't buy it from http://www.sip-scootershop.com/main/base/Results.aspx?t=1611028&d=(max,sco)&a=1&sort=0 where it is $45 cheaper ???

I talked with Josh from the scooter garage today about carbs since my s9 still isnt running right after I put a top end on as Carver's scooter shop said.  He sent me a couple of links and I want to know opinions on best bang for the buck aftermarket carbs.

Here is the Malossi 19mm carb. Bolts right on but is $163.  A german website had it for $123 but says they cannot sell to USA.

Here is the Dellorto that also bolts right up.  Of course they are out of stock.

I plan on getting a BBK in the future so I need to make sure I wont out grow it. You guys who run the Arreche and others, how do you get it to bolt up?
