Super 8 150 / Re: Super 8 150 tune up

Hi Justwanttoride, i know what you mean about shocks and ride. The shock spring is too stiff for a 195 lb rider, it is like riding a bucking horse. But new shocks are expensive. I have thought of going to a Wrecking yard and trying to get some old shocks of a small bike ?. What tires would you recommend ?.

thanks Juice loud i don't need. I wear ear plugs as it is, it sure makes a scooter sound better ? ;D
Any thoughts on a new head, would it be worth the $380 or so by the time i'm finished ?.

Super 8 150 / Super 8 150 tune up
« on: August 22, 2011, 08:46:44 PM »
Hi you lot, i have been reading all the old posts, and cant find what i need. Please read and advise. My Super 8 150 runs nice, but bogs a little on hills. I have been thinking of adding a 4 valve head and better breathing and carb (bigger Jets). I cant find if anyone thinks the exhaust is too restrictive. I find a post where they think that noise is what you get from a new exhaust. Do any of you have an opinion. Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Wind
« on: August 10, 2011, 10:07:59 PM »
Hi the side wind can scare the bejesus out of you. My Super 8 150 gets really skittish on crossing my river bridge in a side wind. I slow down, the scooter handles it better at about 40 mph.

General Discussion / Confusion about engine production number
« on: July 27, 2011, 09:08:20 PM »
Hi this is such a wonderful forum site. Here goes an newby type question ?.
My super 8 150 has a production date of late 2008. The engine number begins KV30S1000664. So how does that relate to the 157QMJ line of engines. The QMJ line seems to list all the hop up parts ?.
I appreciate your experience and help. At least i know the difference between a two stroke and a four cycle. Thanks Bob

Hi sorry i almost forgot ?. There seems to be some belt slap at certain times of acceleration. I took the cover off and watched. The belt where it feeds out of the variator, on the bottom slaps a bit. I guess it is the bigger clutch spring making it a bit harder to open the clutch pulley up. So i think the belt is a little loose on the outfeed from the variator.
Any thoughts on the matter ?.

Hi the weights just don't cost that much, so i went with the standard 12 gram. I feel it smoothed everything up. Take off mid range and pickup. I was happy with the results. I am mostly in 45 mph traffic, occasionally into 55 mph traffic.
If i wanted a faster machine i would have bought a bigger sized scooter. A Super 8 150 is good value for the money.

Hi Kevin
Replaced with yellow, the Clutch Main Spring. Three Clutch Arm Springs.
3 Sliders and Weights in variator. 12 gram was what i took out and 12 gram was what i replaced. I used DR Pulley.
Top Speed is 65 on the speedo on the scooter. I was in 55 mph traffic and catching them easily.

Super 8 150 / Re: How much do rollers weigh super 8 150
« on: July 21, 2011, 12:07:44 PM »
Hi check your belt, i noticed that it vibrates at certain places as the variator is working. I tested it with the cover off. The bottom of the belt slaps around a bit. No harm to the belt, just an annoying noise. I think it may be due to a stronger main spring at the clutch. Yes i did all the mods at once. It did smooth the clutch take up and give stronger response to the throttle mid range. ?? but the belt slap ??, time will tell it only happens at certain speeds and position of the variator.

Super 8 150 / Re: Rear Shocks
« on: July 21, 2011, 11:58:55 AM »
Went out and tried them again. When i lay across the rack on the scooter they do not give, the tire flattens some. They seem way too stiff a spring. I guess Kymco is making sure it will carry two. I am thinking of looking at a Cycle Salvage, will need to measure everything up. I agree to buy new shocks would defeat the purpose of buying a used scooter in the first place.

Technical | How To / Fan Tube where does it go
« on: July 19, 2011, 10:55:11 PM »
The rubber tube that starts near the front of the main side cover, near the Variator . It disappears under a cover near the side stand. Where does it go ?, it came loose when i had the cover off. Super 8 150
