General Discussion / Re: What Octane Do You Use?
« on: September 22, 2008, 07:04:02 PM »
I have no trouble with 87 or even 85 octane in my GV259. just went over red mountain pass in CO at 11,000 feet with two people and had no problem.  Remember that the 91-93 octane recommended in the manual us a European measurement and is equal to our 87 octane.  Running a higher octane is just wasting your money. Also in the West most of our gas is 10% ethanol.

For me I find the GV a much more comfortable bike the people.  I started out on a P150 and rode it for 10,000 miles before I traded up.  I do not find the smaller tires a problem on the GV even on the interstate.  This is a very stable scooter.  The seat is more comfortable, and I like the handlebars better than the People.  The folding mirrors may seem like a gimick.  I haual the scooter on the back of our motorhome and this is a real plus.  The mirrors on the GV take a little getting used to.  Of the two I much prefer the GV over the People.

Stick with the original tires till they wear out,  My back tire is bald at 6500 miles and will replace with a Michelin city.  Front tire is still good.  But I do put a lot of miles on with two people.  Get the first service done by the dealer or the warranty will be voided.

This is a common problem, my Gv250 reads 7-8 MPH high.  They just want you to think you are going faster than you are.

Grandvista 250 / Re: Larger windshield for a 2008 Grand Vista 250

Tall GIVI windshield for GV250 is great,  It is easy to install and completly blocks the wind.  I would not like to ride without it.  You can find it on the GIVI site or google GIVI grandvista windshield.  Also when searching for GV parts remember that in other parts of the world the scooter is called a Grand Dink.

I have both the touring seat and an air hawk seat cushion.  This combo lets me ride very comfortable for long rides.  Longest ride was 260 miles with two people.
