Maryland Excessive Title Fee For Motorcycles / Scooters
As we all already know Maryland is not a motorcycle / scooter friendly state. It costs $97.00 to title a motor scooter that is over 49 cc or a motorcycle. In PA the title fee is under 25.00 and the tag fee is 18.00 compared to Maryland’s 100.00 registration fee. They are also requiring 50 cc scooters to be titled and a decal be bought and stuck on the back (kind of like a plate) in Maryland. Scooters are the poor man’s transportation until now. According to a article published in the Maryland Gazette the new law regulating 50 cc scooters will go into effect October 1st of this year. The bill’s chief sponsor was Pam Beidle (D) Linthicum. She is also a nationwide insurance agent. Nationwide insurance Mid-Atlantic Region also gave lawmakers the analysis of the bill! What can you do about this?
1) Boycott nationwide insurance co. (when you cancel tell them it’s in repose to Pam Beidle and nationwide involvement in creating the new MD scooter law.
2) Share this info with friends, family etc.
3) Contact Gov O’malley and let him know we won’t stand for this.
4) Rally at the capital on September 28, 2012 Hosted by the Regulators Scooter Club. Meet up will be @ Charm City Scooters 10 a.m. and will end at the Maryland state house. This will be the Protest site.
5) Make signs to voice your opinion! The bigger the better!
6) Email Fox 45 and other local news radio agencies and let them know we will not stand for excessive fees and regulations!
