General Discussion / Rally / Protest MD's New Scooter Regulations and fees
« on: September 07, 2012, 05:30:51 PM »
Maryland Excessive Title Fee For Motorcycles / Scooters

As we all already know Maryland is not a motorcycle / scooter friendly state. It costs $97.00 to title a motor scooter that is over 49 cc or a motorcycle. In PA the title fee is under 25.00 and the tag fee is 18.00 compared to Maryland’s 100.00   registration fee.  They are also requiring 50 cc scooters to be titled and a decal be bought and stuck on the back (kind of like a plate) in Maryland. Scooters are the poor man’s transportation until now. According to a article published in the Maryland Gazette the new law regulating 50 cc scooters will go into effect October 1st of this year. The bill’s chief sponsor was Pam Beidle (D) Linthicum. She is also a nationwide insurance agent. Nationwide insurance Mid-Atlantic Region also gave lawmakers the analysis of the bill! What can you do about this?
1)   Boycott nationwide insurance co. (when you cancel tell them it’s in repose to Pam Beidle and nationwide involvement in creating the new MD scooter law.
2)   Share this info with friends, family etc.
3)   Contact Gov O’malley and let him know we won’t stand for this.
4)   Rally at the capital on September 28, 2012 Hosted by the Regulators Scooter Club. Meet up will be @ Charm City Scooters 10 a.m. and will end at the Maryland state house. This will be the Protest site.
5)   Make signs to voice your opinion! The bigger the better!
6)   Email Fox 45 and other local news radio agencies and let them know we will not stand for excessive fees and regulations!

I own a super 8 2t kymco. I would gladly buy a bigger scooter but they dont make a 150cc 2t ecept for vespa or the next cloest thing the
just about any 4 stroke with a bigbore kit. I ordered a 70cc malossi bigbore kit for it and I think one its installed and tuned it will beat most carborated 125's and 150's. I also enjoy making my scooter look, sound and ride bad ass. I top out at about 45mph with the stock top endProper;y tuned I think it could hit 60mph

I have both pirelli diablo tires on the bike the look great and handle even better. On the back I had to go with a size other then the original so I went with a 140/70/14 and that is huge compared to the stock tire ( wider and taller). This tire is such a big difference I had to remove my fender. I think the bile looks 10X better . On the ron the is a 120/70/14. No more vibrations at high speeds! The scooter also sits up higher so you can lean more in the turns with out scraping. I smply love this tire set!

Super 8 / Re: Headlights Out Super 8 50 2t Need Help
« on: March 22, 2012, 06:09:10 AM »
I had the same problem with my super 8 2T. Bothe headlights just stoped working, There is a box under the plastic, looks like a cdi. That is the headlight controller wox what i did is unplug it jumed the 4 prong blug and bame lights are back on. I tried to call the dealer and get them to fix it but they were assholes. So far no adverise affects and been running it this way for a week now. The thing I like about it is the head lights don't dime at idle anymore and they come on as soon as you turn the key to the on position. I'm going to switch out my other bulbs to l.e.d. bulbs to reduce the amount of current used while the bike is running. There are videos outhere to show you how to do this. I tinned my wires with soldier before using the to mke tiny jumpers

I just ordered a set of perelli diablo tires from my local scooter shop. I used perelli's on race cars and race bikes so I think they should work well for scooters. I will write a full review on the tires and post it. I will also update it through out the tires lfe. It should be interesting to see how they hold up and how they are in wet weather. I hate the stock tires! The vibrate the scooter if I go above 40 mph, They suck and skid in the rain and the ruber is seperating on both tires. Niether are dry rotted and niether have cam in contact with gas.

Super 8 / turn signalsinstalled in the body
« on: February 29, 2012, 06:46:30 PM »
I want to install the turn signals next to the brake lights. On the super 8 there is a spot where it looks like turn signals but its fake. I was thinking of installing some orange turn signal bulbs in there in the rear and in the front. I have seen people that have done it online but I don't know where they got the light bulb sockets at. I tried a local motorcycle shop that sells scooter (there parts guys blew me off) I looked at advanced auto and found nothing, I tried a trailer lights shop and nothing. I looked online as well. If you have done this pleas tell me how and where you got the parts at please.

Super 8 / Re: Fitting a Tachometer to a Super 8 4Stroke
« on: February 29, 2012, 06:39:25 PM »
I seen a universal on that you wrap the wire from the tach around the spark plug wire. My freind uses on and it seems to work well for him. he has on thats digital. I would think they shoud work well after all some car tachs work off the coil

General Discussion / Re: This is what Ethanol does to rubber...
« on: February 29, 2012, 04:55:44 PM »
First off enthanol is more expensive to make then gas, ever think that could be a factor in the gas prices? Ethanol create less energy then gas and burns faster! Maybe if we were sould plan gas we would get better milage? Ethanol is corosive! That is a fact! If it isn't go by straight ethanol and fill you scooter with it and let me know what happens. Hahahaha! I read all about e 85 when they were first studying it to see if it could replace gas. They had to coat everything with teflon gass lines ect so they wouldn't corrode. Ethnol mixed gas burns hotter also. Ethnol makes the gas oxygenated which can damage older cars trucks 2 stroke engines ect. Oxygenated gas also has been the cause of water contaminated gas. The small benifit of oxygenated gas odes no out way the damage, it drives up gas prices, causes the consumer to get worse milage and damage to engines. I have a 2 stroke scooter and ethanol gas is really bad for it and causes it to run hotter and it will do the same for all air cooled motors. I have found a place in my area that sells non oxygenated racing fuel. The price of that fuel cost more (around $7 a gallon) but the pay of is increased milage, cooler running engine, increased compression, and longer engine life. Is it worth it? I say yes! The one reason I come up with why the government is putting ethnol in gas is to benifit the farmer. after all thats where ethanol begins life!

Technical | How To / Tires on my super8
« on: February 29, 2012, 08:43:41 AM »
I got a nail in my front tire today. I was able to plug it and inflate it and its holding air. So I decided to inspect the rear tire while it was on the service stand. pon inspection it apears the rear tire is cracking were the treas is and coming apart. It's not dry rotted it looks like someone to a razer blade and cut little slits on the part that contacts the road. Note I just bought my scooter in about 6 months ago it is garage kept and has never sen rain. This is a quality issue! The back tire also has a nasty vibration if you go over 30mph. With only going over a little more then 1200 mi and paying 2400.00 after dealer costs you would think the tires would have held up longer then they did! Now I have to spend extra money that I shouldn't have to on new tires due to the fact that kymco cut corners by using generic tires! I'm going to get the Pirelli Diablo Scooter Tire - front and rear tires. They are going to set me back a 145.00. The bottom line is if you buy a kymco plan on spending money on replacing the tire because the ones from the factory suck! :-[

Super 8 / Re: Help with parts, and 50cc 2 STOKE!!!!!!
« on: February 27, 2012, 03:48:00 PM »
Hey I own a super 8 2t and I found a lot of the parts for other kymco 2t bikes fit. I got my technigas next r exhaust from moped hospital racing. I bought my malossi variator kevelar belt cluch springs, and arreche carb and jets from provoscooter.com. Also scooter parts racing planet has a lot of hard to find parts too. Currently my bike tops out a 45 mph. Look for parts that fit the super 9 ac or cobra. A lot of those parts will say all kymco 2t's. I'm pretty sure kymco didn't design a new engine for each bike and there all pretty much the same.
